I have an 88 McLaren and a few weeks ago, the heat (which used to work like a dream) stopped being hot. Around the same time, There would be a fuel smell inside the car; not while driving it, but after you get out and get back in after a while, it's likea stale fuel smell, only inside, not outside, and it seems to only happen when the heat and blower motor have been on previously.
Now, I have all the documentation for the car's history, andone of the service slips noted a fuel odor in the cabin, and as a fix they replaced the heater core and flushed and filled the coolant (it also said the car was bucking, surging, and stalling, in Florida, mind you...)
So what do you guys think???
Thanks,
Jeremy

If your heater core is leaking, you would get a sweetish smell from anti freeze, not a fuel smell. I dont know what you are smelling. I would never describe antifreeze as a fuel smell, but you might. You can bypass the heater core for a couple of days to see if the smell goes away. Have you had to add any coolant to the system? Have you checked it?

What is an 88 McLaren?
