funny insurance stuff... kind of...

So, anyone who reads any of my posts knows that I was rear ended by a little kid in a 2006 cobalt... he gave me fake info but I got down his plates so the insurance place got ahold of him... he still hasn't reported the accident so I have about a month to go before I can get my car fixed...

So the insurance company does not upgrade parts. period. and I need two tailpipes and mufflers (so they match both sides) and I went out shopping for quotes today. My fav. exhaust shop had:
2 dynomax superturbo's $120 (each)
2 (forget company, flowmaster I think...) fully chromed 2.5 tailpipes and tips $540
plus about $150 labour.... the total was $1124

then for the insurance companies sake I went to ford for a quote... MAN!!!
2 tailpipe and muffler assemblies $1988.00
and labour was around $300

So I think with the information I give them and the bodyshop on my side for getting the exhaust the way I want... I think that the insurance company will go with the aftermarket quote...

I was really suprised at the ford quote!!!

So I have another 30 days to wait with a broken dragging tailpipe and paint missing-on bumper... I'm going to end up cutting of the tailpipe and muffler if it keeps going like this...
