Gas mileage and fuel injectors...

Will gas mileage decrease with the addition of 42lb/hr fuel injectors? I already know it's going to go down with the addition of a Procharger, but will the injectors really screw me over?

well, i would think that if your getting a procharger you're going to need bigger fuel injectors than 24#ers. The lowest i've heard anyone going with a supercharger is 30#ers. And if you dont drive it hard, and get a good tune, you could see some decent fuel economy.

If your going to add a charger...you need to be more worried about the fuel needs to the motor rather than the mpg.

42's is a smart choice when added boost my .02$. With boost your going to want a richer fuel mix than with a N/A engine. This alone will give you less mileage...you will still prob. get OK milage but if your worried about mileage buy a beater for a daily driver or a honda or something. Your going to need a tune or cal'd MAF to run at all though with the 42's

Actually 42s. I would have to say yes. I did a H/C/I and still TwEECer. I'm glad it's not my daily driver - damn it drinks gas. Peace

I don't know from experience... but I have read that it is in the tune. If you get a good tune, then it should not be affected too much. Alteast that is what I have read. That is if, you are not driving hard

Oh yeah, I plan on getting a C&L 80mm MAF. And I can't afford another car, since I'm a freshman in College. But anyways, the Procharger is a late graduation gift from my parents, but what kind of numbers would I be seeing probably? I'm hoping for hopefully 12-17 in the city...think this would be possible?

I dont know what size injectors he has, I dont even know if it is supercharged there but he gets decent.

So, do you think I could go 2 weeks before filling up? Trying to budget this all out...and no, wouldn't be driving like a madman all the time. Nice casual driving for the most part.

How many miles will you be driving? Is it mostly city, all city or lots of highway? I think our cars have like a 15.x size tank. Say if you get 17mpg now, that would be around 255 miles a tank, if after you get 13mpg that would be 195 miles, 14 mpg would be 210. That would leave you about 15 miles per day to drive.

A blown combo is no different than a na combo if both are tuned correctly when cruising.

They both will give pretty good milage.

Around town it is gonna be a different story and that is mainly cause none of us can keep our right foot under control, lol.

My car is a weekend toy only and I can tell you my 30's are way more thirsty than the 19's I used to have with my ported E7 combo even though me and the little woman still use the car in the same way as before.

Injector size really has no impact on fuel economy. It's not like instead of 19# of fuel/hour/injector suddenly you are having 42#/hr/injector dumped into your motor. A properly tuned motor will run at stoich (14.64:1 A/F) at idle and part throttle - no matter what injector size you are running. What affects mileage is the REASON you need higher capacity injectors, the blower, turbo, more cubes, etc. and constantly having fun by doing WOT blasts. On a power adder car the A/F is set richer in a tune than NA and this accounts for some of the mileage decrease, of course, but the real culprit is the increased airflow which requires more fuel. In an NA car with a tune, often a LEANER mixture than stock gives better performance, but on a motor NEEDING bigger injectors the airflow requirements of the motor will be drastically increased, which increases fuel demands.

Ok ok, so the injectors dont directly have any effect on the mileage...but rather the higher boost. I got ya. And yeah, most of it is inner city driving, traffic, etc.

So honestly guys, what could I expect with a 331 Stroker, an FTI custom ground cam, TFS heads and intake, MAC Longtubes, MAC Prochamber H-Pipe, MAC Flowpath mufflers, a Procharger D-1SC (12-14psi), 255lph intank pump, 42lb/hr injectors, and all of the other boltons?

Edit: Oh yeah, this would be my daily driver if you didn't catch that before.
