I had the annoying squeaky belt issue forever. Changed the belt, same problem (cheap one). Thought it was a pulley I might need to replace. Finally came across these Gator Back belts that Autozone sells. They have a angle rib in them that help cause the belt from slipping. $13 and fixed the problem. No more startup squeaks or anything. Look into this, if you have these issues, it will work.

Had the same issue on a '94 Crown Vic police car I used to have. Never really noticed how noisy that thing really was until I put the Gatorback on there and started it up - y'know, that whole "you never know what you've got 'till it's gone" kinda thing. :D

I try to put Gatorback belts on all of my vehicles. There is one downside to 'em (aside from the cost): they seem to tend to throw little bits and dust of rubber all over for half their lifespan, so you get rubber dust on half your engine accessories and on the underside of your hood. Nothing major, I just wouldn't recommend using them if you're extremely anal about keeping your motor clean.
