Gauge placement? A-pillar or under radio??

it seems like you're bent on getting gauges that won't help you monitor the health of your engine at all, you don't need a "d-pic" or an oil temp... about 10 guys on here including myself have told you the smartest and most effective ones to get to replace the stock crap, but it's your car, do as you please...

Don't get me wrong I appreciate the advice, I just don't track my car so I feel the stock crap is good enough

if your comfortable with not knowing if the car is running at 180 or 210 degrees and dont care where the oil pressure is then you should definitly get the ''d-pic'' guage

It's not.

Easiest way to tell if your engine is about to crap the bed is water temp and oil pressure. Those should be the first two gauges installed if any get installed.

Stock gauges are CRAP. :notnice:

A 3rd gauge I would install is a vacuum gauge. LEarning to drive by a vacuum gauge can help significant'y with fuel economy.

Air/Fuel is a light show of pretty colors. D-pic i wouldn't mind, but it might get old for me quickly.

So are your water and oil gauges in the dash dead or are they still hooked up?

Ummm....I don't remember to be honest. This is the bad part about buying a car already modded!

I think they've been unhooked if I remember right. I'd have to check it again, never paid that much attention to it.

I know some are giving ya a hard time. I agree with their advice, if you really want to monitor your car, oil pressure and temp are big ones....vacuum can be helpful, and fuel pressure can be helpful. Like with mine I've had a slight coolant leak and was able to notice a 5 degree increase in temp having a good gauge. Not a big deal, but it told me it was time to fix the leak.

But its your car so do whatever it is you want to with it. There are plenty of people on here that will help you out with information even if they don't like your reasons behind it. :nice:

There really isnt any way do keep the stock guages working because you replace the sending unit with them.

everyone on here is trying to help you out, the oil and water temps are 100% worth thier weight in bling, for whatever you use the car for. and that is especially true on the street, the last thing you want to do is overheat the car. If you want something like that d-1 or whatever guage it is that tells you quarter mile etc. then go buy a g-tech meter, it will be easier to use, more accurate, and in the long run you will be happier with it.

It’s easy to keep the stock gauges. If you are running an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, just add a “T” fitting to the end of the oil pressure log and connect both senders. If you are running a aftermarket water temp gauge, put the aftermarket one in the accurate (stock) location and relocate the stocker to the back port on the lower intake where there currently is a plug.

I dont care for the monster tach when you still have one in the stock cluster. I know how unreliable the stock gauges are, but when I go through the trouble to put in new guages I'll be using the ones from Florida 5.0 like Wythers posted. They have some really nice looking ones and you'll have room for 6 new reliable gauges right there.

Of course there is.

T-fitting where the oil pressure gauge is

Put the sender for the water temp gauge in the stock location and relocate the stock sender to the rear of the intake. There is a port there with just a plug in it. Take out the plug and the sender goes right in. You'll also notice the rear of the intake has cooler coolant and the gauge will read 1 tick lower.

I put mechanical water temp and oil pressure gauges in my A-pillar. If you go with a mechanical oil pressure gauge, you should really run AN line to it.

+1 to that........:nice:

All the gauges in my car work.
If you know your car and know when the car is running right were the gauges read you will be fine.

thanks for the info on the sending units.

So 90lx what are you trying to say?
you think I should get the water temp and Oil gauges??

ENOUGH DUDE!!!.....
:ZipIt: I HEARD YOU THE TENTH TIME YOU MENTIONED THOSE GAUGES.
I get it !!!
you think the stock gauges are crap and if I don't want the world to end I should replace them.

The stock gauges were good enough for the first motor to go to 90k, they should be ok for the next one.

Thanks for the opinion and your 2 cents now.......:Zip2:

So I want to add a few gauges where should I put them?
Opinions??
If I'm doing two what two should I do??
Was thinking oil temp and ??
Pictures of your set ups would be cool.

thanks
GM991

you asked for opinions, you got them... you asked which two gauges to run, we told you... why ask for these things if you're just going to disregard them and do what you want? why not save yourself the trouble and just order the oil temp and shut up? :ban:

wow, you ask for opinions, then people give you an answer, then you ask if something else is better than what 5 different people just told you to buy.

For the record i mentioned the water temp and oil pressure twice, and your hostility is pretty unnecessary, if you dont want peoples advice dont ask for it.

Like I said I apriciate the advice from everyone

But I don't need to hear it from you ten times and then bash me and tell me to get a clock when I say the stock ones work fine and I'm looking to add gauges that are not already in the car.
