Gear on the distributor...

Any one know how to get this off? im trying to change my pickup coil inside and it appears that it all has to be taken off. I already got the pins out and the top one moved but the gear wont budge. I tapped it with a hammer a few times and still nothing i dont want to f - it up .

A bearing splitter should work. A lot of guys do seem to do OK with the hammering of wood against the gear (I would not do that myself, but to each his/her own).

I just punched the pin out then used a puller, then it popped off.

I forgot - there is a dedicated tool for doing this too. It's about 60 bucks though.
