I had my wife go ahead and wax the car, while I buffed it off behind her. After it dried I noticed she got some wax on the black moldings on our car and it seemed impossible to get off. Seems the good old Armor All wips did the trick. It didn't only improve the look of the moldings, but removed the wax as well. If this doesn't work, use the old "black" marker. :D

back to black.... its good, i think black magic makes it... or maybe mothers, not really sure, but i use it when my friends have it..

Black to Black doesn't remove the wax, it just covers it. My experience is that it makes things look good for a month or so then it needs to be reapplied. Griots and a couple of other companies make products that truly remove the wax, though they can be a bit of a pain to use depending on where the wax is and how rough the surface is. Have heard that peanut butter works, but never tried it.

Way too much thought going on here...cars are 20yrs old almost...they've all had wax on all the trim. Pretty much any product will remove the wax, hell even hot water and a rag will do it once the surface temp is down. What works ideal is a plastic cleaner followed by a plastic polish, also back to black...yes it needs to be applied bi weekly, but no plasitc pc should sit unprotected in the enviorment or it will be damaged. I recently have taken to hitting the ENTIRE car with turtle wax ice once a week...every exterior surface, takes literally 15 minutes to do and the results are....well people compliment the car often...so the results are excellent. Don't use peanut butter...cleanup will be a huge pain. I will say that if you use a plastic cleaner and spend some signigicant time cleaning..I mean over and over untill the rag is no longer dirty after wiped, then use a plastic polish to resore any dulling effect, followed by a couple coats of decent wax...the plastic will look better than it has in yrs...guaranteed.

i just use "Back to Black"

Hey, it might not remove the wax for all of us ..... but I bet if you use it, you won't get anything else. This stuff works amazing on my mirrors, cowl, and other black plastic & rubber trim. B2B FTW.

And for those that don't know, it's made by Meguire's. Try it.

armor all wipes work but only for a little while. I like to use a tooth brush and WD40. i spray the toothbrush and then scrub the black part. Also i have pinstripes down the sides of my car and th wax sticks out on that so i use a cnother toothbrush to get that off.

I would not use WD40 on plastic/rubber surfaces...just me, but I'm fairly certain long term it will dry out the trim. As for toothbrush...little to abrasive on surfaces in my book, if you remove the surface of the plastic, rubber, or paint it's going to look worn quickly.

I agree with DMAN, I do the same thing, I do my whole car with the Turtle Wax ICE, that stuff is awesome, best part is you can do it in the sun too (I dont have a garage). However I kind of disagree on the wd-40 statement. I clean my wheel wells with that all the time, great product. Little history lesson, WD-40 was invented and used on submarines for protection under water. Thats why its called wd-40 (Wet & Dry 40). WD-40 is your friend :nice:
