Geting Ready To Start On My 69 Shelby Replica -et Five Spokes?

took the front fiberglass back off and raised the doors ,now it fits great. got the stone deflector and the front valance bolted on. made my own bumper brackets ,just modified my origionals. holly crap the chrome fits!! every thing lines up bolted the bumper on to .this thing looks likes its smiling ,me to. the hood is still just setting there ,have to sand blast my hinges then i will bolt it on. i still need a couple of brackets for the front,the hood locks and the grill and that is going to take some $$
body work is just about nothing on the front glass .wanted to primer every thing with the brown primer that i used on the body but its not available any more,have to use what ever they have i guess to get it all in one color primer. the interior fiberglass will be my next project. i am using a rear seat shelf kind of like the 65 r modle so no back seat ,it mounts the spare tire just like the r modle its from stang- aholics .had it setting in at one time it fit realy well. i bought the whole interior fiberglass from them,nice stuff

found the 70 grill lights at the cherry ave. swapmeet in fresno a few months ago ,the wires were broken off. i took my 69 turn signals and carefully un crimped the light sockets and pulled them out. did the same with the 70 lights and replaced them with my 69s now they are a direct plug in and look factory. i had to buy the whole grill to get the lights ,the guy wouldnt budge on the price $25, he he. drilled the mounting holes, 2 in the front valance and 2 in the fender. had to drill 4 holes 2 for the mounting studs and 2 for the lense screws to clear. the whole thing took about 30 minutes every piece added just makes it look that much better.

took out all the interior fiberglass,nice and dirty its been tucked in the attic for a little over a year now. these are nice heavy pieces. i am goint to fiberglass a piece of 16 guage in each quarter trim panel on the back side were the seat shelf will bolt down just for strength. i didnt have any of the interior fiber glass it was bassicly just a body when i got it back. staing-aholics upper trim above the trap door area is a realy nice piece its finnished both sides and uses the origional attaching clips. i even have the roll bar ,i want to have it padded and stitched in leather along with the seats when i figure out wich ones i am going to use. the seat shelf is realy heavy duty and has places for 2- 6 by 9 speakers .the spare tire mounts on top just like a 65 r modle. i measured the tire opening it is 10 1/4 inches .i sat a 245 - 60 - 15 tire in it ,it is 9 1/4 inch wide so a prety good size tire will easily fit. ryan told me it fits a 67-68 as well. no i dont want to use these wheels on the 69 they are off my 1923 c cab delivery, they look prety cool on it though.

i made some 16 guage angle strips and fiberglassed them to the back
of the seat side panels, now i have somthing to screw the package tray to
other than just fiberglass

the fiberglass interior panels are bolted in. the fit is realy nice especialy for aftermarket pieces. the top strip above the trap door just snaped in place ,wonderfull. the package tray was a bear tring to get in by my self,that sucker is heavy it slid right in place though .i have to pre drill the screw holes tomarrow . i put the roll bar in by my self.
somthing to remember here ,put the fricken roll bar in first! there is about 3/8 inch between the body and the bar ,got my son on the beachin finger in between it. hurt like hell and know body arround to even hear me cussing at it. after getting my finger freei finnished bolting the bar down .the SOB atleast fits ,this is going to look great when all painted. going to paint the interior charcoal black metalic the way its suposed to be. yes my finger still hurts!!!!!!

the shelf comes from stang-aholics. it has a heavy texture like the 65 r modle.
i think i may carpet mine. the fit is great, i just finnished drilling all the mounting holes
and it is solid. its about 3/16 thick. i didnt have a back seat and it would cost well over a $1000.
to by one .this came to around $500 . i figure if i need room for passengers they can ride in the trunk,or run along beside me.

Since everyone else is tossing their opinion in the ring, I will too. I think your choice of the ET's is a good one. I like those wheels and think it would absolutely look nicer than the originals. I went to great lengths to find real Shelby 10-spokes for my clone and while they fit well and make the car look period-correct, I really want 16's and think I will eventually go with ET 5-spokes, since they look like the original American Torq-Thrusts.

i realy wanted the et fueler with knock offs ,but they are somting like
$800 each. thats a lot of money that can be used eleswhere.

i had some time so i decided to try to fit the inner fender dust shields. the metel panels had to be bolted in first. i am still missing 2 brackets that attach the metal panel to the fender,but i orderd them. they are fiberglass and bond to the inside of the fender and bolt to the metal panel. the plastic dust shields are just the factory dust shields and bolt over the metal panels. amazing! they fit with no fuss no muss. i am amazed how easily every thing has fit on this car.

i knew i had orderd the brackets for the dust shields. they were in my convert ,mixed in with parts for it. thats what happens when you are working on more than one car at a time. they bolt right in place. i will have to mark were they touch inside the fender and bond them in. i am running out of parts that need to be fitted. soon it will just be block sanding and paint. what color will it be ? i have not decided yet.

i have been considering black for some time now. my brother just gave me this diecast model .i know its a convert,but i like the black with red.i wasnt wanting side stripes but i like this, even the red interior.and it would go perfect with Johnnys car.
i may have just found my colors and it just so happens i already have black paint
and i think i would have to go with the factory wheels .its just a perfect combo

well ,i sold my Model T. hopfully for enough to finnish the 69. hated to see it go but i would like to finaly get a finnished car. some of you will be happy to know that i broke down and ordered the 69 shelby wheels. going to order 245- 60 -15 BFG TAs tomarrow .looks like Branda will get a big chunk of my money i ordered the grill and the grill trim, the hood pins and hood pin to fender brackets ,under rider traction bars and a few other pieces. now i just have to wait for the parts to arive. and it looks like i will order a TCP front suspension ,if the money holds out.

well damn,the wheels are available,the centercaps are not. the grill is available, but the center trim is not. going to try a couple more companies and see what happens.
good news is i went to our local gambling facility last night and won $1800 .i will have to throw in a little but the new suspension is on its way.

well i was able to locate all the parts i wanted .they have all been paid for and ordered.
not suposed to be any back orders,he said while crossing fingers. next week is going to be fun when all those oh so expensive parts come in .cash is still holding out so i may order a Borgsen power stearing box monday.
