ok i am looking to get a good qualily racing seat. i dont want any cheap crap that will fall apart or break. i would love to get the cobra misano seats, but they a 3,000 dollars. they are carbon fiber and only weigh 23 lbs. and look awsome. so i need a substatute.

i was looking at recaro sport (cobra r) and recaro speed. also looking at corbeau a4 or their cr1. specaro seats i dont like.

recaros run a bit more then the corbeau but i like the way they look, i emailed them for seat weights. the sport= 31lbs and the speed=27lbs. i want as light as possable without sacrificing quality.

now im looking at corbeau a4= 25 lbs and the cr1 is like 27 lbs.

my question is are corbeau good seats? they are the cheapest; why?

TECH: again im going as light as i can with a good looking seat. so for install, i hear the corbeau brackets are junk. im pulling the electric motor out from driver side, do i replace it with a v 6 track or a non motor track? sorry so long.

thanks for the artical. i decided that the corbeau style is not what im looking for, its too narrow on the bottom seating part of the seat. the recaro sport is too heavy at 31 lbs so thats out.

im deciding between the recaro speed, corbeau cr1, and trc i think it is. they are all around 27 pounds.

that install article has me swaying form recaro, god dam that sounds like a pita! however i think their quality of seats are good. anyone have any of these? what do u think of them?

yea those srd seats are the ones im looking at. they are called speed 4/5 point on the recaro site, but they are the same thing.

are you saying that they sit 3 in. lower then stock after install? hope i can see over the wheel :D

off my own topic, why did you switch your 02 heads for 04 pi heads?

how long did you have your seats and where did you order from?

what mounting brackets did you order? thanks alot man

I got them from Speedware Motorsports in CA.

The brackets are 79-04 Mustang seat bracket adapaters they are $99 per set. And yes I mean they set you 3 inches lower that stock, stock had me sitting was too high.

I swapped out my 02 heads for 04s..becasue after I swapped cams I had what I thought was ptv contact...it wasnt. Anyway thats why I swapped heads to the 04s.

You'll like the Recarro's.

MOMO is very good, my friend just got some installed in his car. But they are TRUE racing seats, so they dont recline like some of the others. But DAMN they hold you in snug, and they also weigh A LOT less than the stock seats.

cobra brand seats are my ideal seats, that i would want. the cobra misano seats are my first choice. however they are about 3 grand all said and done. if seats never wore out, i would consider them.

for the money difference i can get somthing almost as good, just not as pretty. :D

any make should be good as long as it FIA approved.

As for weight? Well are you totally stripping the car down to the bear minimum? (no interior at all including dash, stereo, air con, trim, carpets, light weight body panels and plexiglass side windows) If not then the wieght difference between a carbon fibre seat and a regular fiber glass one will make 0 (ZERO) difference to the performance of your car.

COBRA Daytonas

Also, If you get racing seats, DONT install harnesses unless you have a roll cage. I hear thats a no-no. You would have to install the harnesses in through the back seats and in a crash it would put to much strain on your body. You need to loop them through a roll cage.

If you can't using harnesses, then...it doesn't matter.

im not going with a harness, unless i do it for looks, i wont be racing so it shouldnt matter. im retaining the stock belts.

as far as weight reduction, im not going that far, i am doing the racing seats, a tubular k member. already pulled spare, rear seat delete, 16 lbs battery, and pulled the a/c, so i think all added together it will make some difference.

I've got Corbeau CR1s in my ride. Awesome mod...they hold you in place...no more hanging on. Simple install and fit perfect.

A thought...buy the CR1s in cloth and get them custom upholtstered in leather (dark charcoal with red inserts or stitching - by you avatar...I'm thinking your car is red)..they'll still come in way below the price of the Cobras, but with the custom leather...they'll look even better.

I have the Cr1's with the Corbeau brackets. They are a very snug fitand I am 6'0 and 170 lbs.

The Corbeau brackets are good enough for me. No complaints at all, except the price. I installed harnesses from the back seat belt buckle recipticle... but I use em for show only and I am not going to install a roll bar so it is gonna stay that way.

I love Corbeaus and Sparcos. Make even my fat ass comfortable. :)
:stupid: I love, well really like my Corbeau Forza's. Cheap, light, keep my 36" waist where it belongs. A little rough on the bum while out for more then an hour, but are great at the track when all harnessed in!! They were a snap to install too!
