Going to the track tonight, what will it run?

My car ran 12.70's last year and have done a few things to it. Changed the cam from a Crane2031 to a 2040 (Like an E-Cam). I got the correct valve springs this year, was running the ones that came stock with the World Windsor Sr. heads(Junk). Switched the exhaust from equal shorties, h pipe, and MAC stuff to the tailpipes to MAC Longtubes, h-pipe, and flowmaster dumps. I pulled another 50 or so pounds out of the car bringing the race weight down to around 2910 or so. I re-ringed and put new bearings in the motor. Cleaned up the Windsor Sr.'s with a little portjob. My old MPH was in the 107.5 range, that equates to around 290 RWHP and around 337 at the flywheel. I think at the very least I should have gained 20 RWHP and that would put me in the 112MPH range and 12.20's. If my port job was any good and the cam raises the HP peak up a little in the RPM range I think that 11's are possible. What do you all think, will I get my first 11 Second timeslip? Check my sig for all my mods.

I need just a hair over 114 MPH to run an 11.99 . That equates to 337 RWHP, I had 290. If you just extrapolate a little, the cam raises the peak hp rpm from the old cams 5300 RPM to about 5900. If the heads can flow at 5900 and all things equal, just the cam will significantly raise the HP. I think the combo is about as matched as my budget will allow. Not that the motor will be making that much more power, I think I was losing a lot of power to the old valve springs (unstable valvetrain) and a mismatched cam. Keep in mind that the car only weighs about 2760 and with me in it around 2910.

One other thing, I was kind of babying it last year. That run (12.7 @ 107.45) I had a 1.9 60ft. time. I was holding the rpm at 5000 but not mashing the gas until the driveline caught up. If I drive balls out that alone will be worth 2 tenths.

Sorry, didn't make it to the track (rain). Just want to hear a little more from the nay-sayers.

You ask a question, we tell you, and you don't like it, I'm sorry, I hope you can prove me wrong, take a look at what others have and what they run. I've seen cars with a lot better mods than you still not run 11's. Good luck though.

Js, Just going off of some simple math here. If my car is making 337HP at the flywheel at 5300RPM's and I put in a cam that brings the peak up to 5900 and have the breathing capabilities to support it, that would equate to 374HP at the flywheel(If I can still make the torque at 5900). Now taking that into account, plus the porting, exhaust, and weight reduction, driving technique, etc...

Nay. If you run faster at all it will be a couple of tenths. New combos almost never run better right away. You will not be in the 11's- even if you get it all sorted out. It should run good- it did before, just not 11 second good. I would be very happy for you if you did get into the 11's but that's a tall order. Its not impossible though. Good luck.

It's possible. I have a friend who was running consistent 12.20's. He went to the track in the winter and it was like 40 degrees out and had a 15 to 20 MPH tail wind. So he ripped the belt off and ran 11.98.

Well, what a disappointment. The clocks got hit by lightning the previous weekend. The starting line had Crisco on it. But I did run 110.85 MPH. Only had 3 runs. First run I launched at 4000 and didn't even move. I spun, let off completely, and got back in it. I didn't get a timeslip on that run but the clocks said something like 13.40 at 109. Second run was a little better at 12.99, 1.96 60 ft.(terrible) and 108.8. The final run I had a another bad 60 ft (2.03) but got a 12.72 at 110.85. With 110.85 I should have been in the 12.20 range. I guess I will go back again on a better day. Didn't mess with timing or fuel pressure. I think I could coax another mile an hour or so out of it with some tuning. So yes I do believe the elevens are possible.

I just found something out. Somehow my motor had accidently been timed to 25 degrees of initial advance! I think we have a mile an hour or so left in this baby. The car was also running extremely lean, so when I go back to the strip, with slicks, I think the 11.99 is almost guaranteed!!!
