Are there any mufflers that anyone can recomend that are quiet as hell but still have excelent flow? I'm goin' for a total sleeper here and I want it to be much quieter than the ricers exhausts. I was thinkin' about throwin' some 2.3 badges on as well. Imports around here won't really race you if your v8 sounds real mean and I've got ported and polished heads and hollowed cats so I need whatever quiet I can get without sacrificing much power..

Probably the best you could do is to put one of the better flowing sets of mufflers on it -- you choose --- and then put a set of high flow cats back on it. The high flow cats offer virtually no restriction to flow, but they do offer a significant reduction in noise.

Well with edelbrock heads a steeda cam holley intake & all the little BS parts.... I ran

Mac shorties into a stock H pipe with Hooker Max Flow mufflers. Best thing I can really say it sounded like is an Audi at WOT.

The Fox said:
Flowmaster 3 chambers. They're quiet until you let everyone know that you're packin lol. Match with some long tubes :)
Not so:
The 3 chamber flows are loud with a terrible drone from 1700-2300 RPM, and that's with a MAC CAt H pipe

One of the challenges with these types of threads is that what's 'loud' and 'quiet', and what sounds 'good' or not is completely subjective. What I thought was too loud and sounded good when I was 24 is ENTIRELY different from what I think now.

But to the original poster, if you're really trying to quiet it down, you won't be disappointed with the Dynomax Super Turbo's that others have recommended -- many who put them on end up thinking they're too quiet. At my age, no such thing as too quiet.... :)

Borla Pro XS, lowest db output out of about 11 high flowing mufflers, and HP was within a few on the top muffler in the test. I just installed a pair on a 12.5:1 408 street car..

I don't find my Borla's to be quiet at all. I had 3ch flowmasters and changed to Borlas. No difference ib volume, just tonal change. With P heads, E-cam, 1 5/8ths Shorties, off road x pipe, 2.5" pipe, my car is Loud.

I went from a stock system to an h pipe with 2 high flow cats, and welded in Dynomax Super Turbos. It is quite a bit louder than stock. It drones at 2k, but not as loud as flows. I get comments about how good it sounds all the time. I guess it is the same type of sound as stock, only deeper and louder with alot more drone.
