I guess waiting really pays off! I've been looking for a car for about 4-5 months now and I finally found the one for me. Its a 1990 25th Anniversary Mustang GT with $114,000 miles. When I came up to the car I wasnt amazingly impressed, but i looked through the tinted windows and I was at a loss for words at how amazing the interior was. Everything inside was mint, not one tear, not one scratch, no crumbs anywhere in the seats...NOTHING!

The previous owner has had it since he bought it new in '90, and it was a Florida car up until 6 months ago. Not to mention he was a Lt.Colonel in the Air Force and the car was his baby, so it was in amazing condition. Now the real kicker...absolutely no mods were put on this car! And almost all the miles were highway! It was THE car i've been looking for, so i crumbled and ended up paying the full asking price of...$2,900!

Im so excited to finally have my own car, I love the feeling of it...now if only I could master starting from 1st on those damn hills!

EDIT: Oh yea i forgot to say it but its pitch black out right now and I just got in from washing the car. Its too dark to take any right now but i will take some tomorrow!

How much will gears kill my mileage by? This will be my DD so i want to keep it as high as possible...hopefully still in the double digits.

Ahhh so much to do and so much to buy! Exhaust, Gears, Short-shifter, headers, filter, Top-end kit... Hopefully i can get enough money for half of the stuff.

4:10 will help. we get great gas miliage with our 4:10's. in the 20-22 if he keeps his foot out of it.(which dont happen much) if he is on the hiughyway he can be in 4th gear and be right around 2,000RPM at around 55mph.

I heard 3.73's were better, I don't plan on taking this car to the strip like at all. Id rather have something more effective in the low rpm range as I dont want to bring the car up around 4.5k-5k RPM's constantly. And please excuse my ignorance but does 20-22 mean MPH? Thanks!

Welcome!!!

I have 3.55's in mine, 75mph in 5th on highway is at 2000rpm (approximately)

get upwards of 24mpg when I drive it..in town 19-20 range.....

(note to self...mustang gets better mpg...why in hell am I driving th pos ranger???)

hmmm... in 4th w/ my 3.73s at 2000 rpm I'm at 45. With the 3.73s I have I still get around 18-20 in town, trust me it will take a bit of footwork to get the stick down on hills, just takes time. plus to get single digit gas mileage you need either a carbed beast or a hardcore foot in the gass 24/7, you will probably get lower 20s w/o gears, high teens w/ them

NO WAY! some you guys bull**** for sure. My 3.27 rear at 70-72mph on the highway in 5th is pushing 2400 rpms. I know my stock tach is not that far off just based on the way the motor is working. So either i have a 4 banger tranny in there, or some you just praising your gears a little too much.

On average i get 23 mpg every tank. get about 24mpg highway, 20 around town. i LOVE my 327's though...still thinking i have a 4 banger tranny in there for some reason:shrug:

Thanks for all the info, I dont drive highway all that much so as long as i can keep it in the high teens ill be fine with it. And as far as the pics go, i just reformatted this computer and i lost the install disc for the camera so i cant upload them to my computer. It looks exactly like http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y176/Saintnapster/111Interior.jpg except its cloth and not all leather.

There are some quirks with it though that i would like to know about how to fix.

1st: He claims to have backed into a pole or something at about "2mph" and he replaced the front-left quarter panel so of course its much more shinier than the rest of the car. Id like to know how i could bring the whole car to the same "fade" and make it nice and shiny. I was thinking a high speed buffer and a lot of time but i have no idea what im doing with one of those.

2: When i turn the wheel all the way to the right it makes a little hissing/grinding sound, my Dad says its just the power steering and I think it is too but the thing is someone ****ed up badly putting that damaged quarter-panel on. When the wheels are straight there is about 2.5" of spacing between the front of the tire and back of the wheelwell on the right, and only about 1" on the left...maybe less. And now even worse news...the quarter panel has a part of it ripped back so that whenever i turn all the way right and go back to pull left that it will catch it and it will end up pretty much ripping the whole panel until i turn enough so that it gets unhooked off the tire. I can see visible slash marks on the tires, not too deep so im not worried about replacing it, but when I also looked i saw that the paint on the backside of the wheelwell on the panel was rubbed off all the way to the yellow of the "fiberglass." And also the firewall type thingie which is made out of a very thin plastic is ripped right near the edge.

3: Trunk doesnt shut correctly all the time, seems like the lock isnt engaging right.

4: That stupid new quarter-panel is also cracked in a few places from being ripped/bent because of how the tire catches on it. And also there is a huge gap in the stripping that goes all the way around the car at the front of the drivers door where it meets with the newer panel. I dont have any explanation for this, maybe because he got the wrong panel...or maybe he bent the whole frame or something so that it tweaked the corner so it wont fit right. I have no idea, it seems to drive really well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I took it to my mechanic and he didnt notice any of this, he just told me I needed to replace my heater core and that the throttle/coolant sensors needed to be replaced.
