I think someone is going to try and hide that 420 (LOL) under that 96 cobra hood.

Will it fit.

Im going to find out, im very doubtful though. I refuse to use solid(drop) motor mounts, so i got a set of convertible rubber mounts.

I put a 3-1/2 or 4 inch cowl hood in the budget, so im covered there, it would be nice to keep the 98 cobra hood though.

of course me and Rob(RC) own the only modded mustangs to never see the track, so if i did run it, id probably run like a 15.9 lol....

Anthony

Lol nah, if we went on a sat, the track is so sticky, you would run 13's easy, as long as you can shift. Plus the track is at sea level, which helps as well.

ya think??...i was thinkin id need some 3.73's, and maybe some UD's to crack the 13's....

Anthony

Woops, thought you had 3.73's :(

Numbles - the downs upper is BIG money, then to get a 351 cobra lower ported will cost you.. This trickflow intake is much cheaper in comparison, which is why i went with it. Plus i believe the tfs R lower flows much more then the 351 cobra lower..

anthony - its not too bad, most places will do it for 200-300 tops. It will be the best mod yet.

Pleasehelp, yeaa i had a turbo settup, this is what it looked like before.. So many issues with HG's, i gave up on it. Keeping it N/A now.

Charlie - ill bring it sunday so you can look at it. Ill prob just wait till winter to polish it up, since polishing is a ton of work.

Yea i am. Its a 351 69block stroked/bored to a 420. All forged lower end(forged h beams, probe pistons, forged crank).. Im getting the tie bar lifters so i can use a HYD roller cam in the block even though its settup for a solid roller. It should be about 10.15 C/R with the 58cc afr 225 heads, maybe a smidge more since the block was decked.

While i was talking to ed on the phone about the settup, he said that i will **** my pants just bringing this engine up to 4500rpm's lol, which is deff something to look forward to. Hes setting up the cam for a 6500 rpm shift point.. I hope to make around 450rwhp n/a, maybe more, who knows for sure.. Its a pretty racey settup though.
First, that intake looks pretty cool.

Where is the shortblock coming from?

With a 420, and a half decent cam you are going to see well over 500 horsepower and probably closer to 550.

For example, one of Ed's cams in a 427 with a 225 head was 260/268 @ 0.050" lift (I don't want to give too much away). Not too radical. The car made something like 525 rwhp and only revved the thing to 5800 or so.

Good luck with everything...

Thanks Joe. Its the engine moneypit bought off ebay. He pulled it apart and put in new scat H beams, new probe pistons and rings. Im just buying the shortblock of course..

Those are some great #'s with the 427.. Was it a solid roller cam? Im interetsed in what the lift is...

Thanks for posting pictures of that intake. I'm very interested to see what kind of hood clearance issues you run into. I was leaning towards the 5.8 Victor Jr. for my motor, but I haven't really looked at Trick Flow that hard yet.
