Got a Question about Stock HP #'s on 5.0's

GD no-one has gotten WTF i was asking on the second ? about comparing 5.0's to SS Camaro's

Here........nevermind
calm down tehre buddy, well i think the reason they compare to stangs and not cams is probaly stangs are so easy to get and cheap camaros can be really expensive although they might be worth it people in the street racing more race more stangs then cams because more people have them

Why do we "ricers" compared ourselfs to the stang so much? Because the majority of drivers for both vehicles are late teens/earlie 20's men for one, so most of us have one type of car and a buddy has the other. Also, the 87-93's re-started the whole muscle car movment IMO, and they were around when the imports first started to really get moving. Not to mention we actually have a chance of catching a stock mustang [auto's are no problem] while a stock SS camaro from 93+ will leave us in the dust, no questions asked.

To your other Q, why does a LT/LS1 motor make more power? Because its designed different. Too many variables to tell you why they make more power, but with the LT/LS series motors new in 93 and 98 respectivly, while the 5.0L came out in what like 1960 somthing? So technology might play a little part in that :D

not sure if u were exagerating but 1960??? 5.0's came out in like 1980 or something around there, maybe your not talking about mustangs 5.0 iono

here's a thought, maybe they make more power because it's umm bigger, try 50 more cubes, aaaannd, Ford stopped using the 5.0 in 95, and chevy kept on improving and sticking their 350 in everything, so they had a chance to improve it with all the new technology, now the 4.6 is still improving and doing very well I might add. but Chevy is starting to go with a different motor in the c-6 corvette, the 6.0 litre which produces some very nice #'s which I think is called the ls-6 or somthing.

thats true but u cant give all the credit to the 50 more cubic inchea thats not alot to make like 120(about, not sure on exact number) more hp, its overall just a better engine

hum

why dont they compair them um i think its pretty easy well first off with some bolt ons they can hang with a 5.0 to a point unless modded now unless they have a dang good setup there not even going to be close to racing a 350 sorry to say they just walk be getting dog walked the whole time but thats just my 2 cent and since the ricers are mostly little kids they dont have that kinda money to compete with a ss or z28 atleast the lt1 n ls1 lol woot my first post lol

He is talking about the 302 V8.....5.0 and it was around long before the 80's, Have you not heard of all those "Pinto like" 302'ed Mustang II's?.....actually in 81&82 I believe, they did not even make stangs with 5.0's.Power wise 157hp in 83 175 in 84, 180 auto and 210 5speed in 85, 200 in 86 and 225 after that up to the early 90's when they changed the way they measure hp. I agree with the 85 starting "new" era, that is what I read many times. Going up 35hp from 84 is a nice power gain among many other features the 85 had like short throw shifter, different tranny gears, better waterpump, smaller pullies, nicer interior, better steering wheel, changed front clip....to mention a few.

yea, but its an A code they called it a 289 but its really a 302 A codes came factory with some mods witch really made it a 302 but again they just called it a 289

nvm then it was introduced in 68 but in 67 the a codes really had them they just didnt change the names to 302 they still called it a 289 but it was faster, and it was relly a 302

302 did come out in the late 60's,but they were never real fast.I think there claim to fame was the "302 Boss" Mustang. But they werent no ball of fire.A 87--93 5.0 could smoke it in the 1/4 mile!!!!!
