I'm about to order a set of Hooker Longtube headers and the O/R X that fits them. Now i have been reading around and it sounds like O/R is way too loud and will only get me tickets not to mention its almost impossible to hear inside the car. Is this true? Have any of you gotten tickets?? I'm going to be running this with my SLP loudmouthII cat back system. If this is going to be too loud the only other option i have is MAC. I can't afford Kooks. Second part to my dilema is does your insurance go up if you get tickets for your exhaust being too loud, because i can't really afford that either.

PLEASE HELP I'M FREAKN' OUT MAN!!!!!!

I live in KY and I have SLP LT's, SLP O/R X-pipe, and Steeda cat-back and I don't think any of those are true. But I would also say the SLP LM catback is probably louder than my Steeda. Now this is in daily driving.. if I get on my car it is definately louder. I drove by my camera beside a corvette with Borla exhaust and had 2 camaros behind me both with cut off exhaust and the whole time my exhaust was louder than all of theirs

I had a system very similiar to what your're describing(long tubes/off-road x with very open style mufflers) and personally found it too loud. Now some people like that but the noise inside the car finally drove me crazy. Also the exhaust note was kinda "rappy" like an old truck.

If you mean MAC long tubes and a MAC pro-chamber? The long tubes are ok quality but I went with the pro-chamber based on my previous experience with it. I'm going to have to do some minor heating and bending to make it match up with my Hedman LT's. If you're not comfortable doing that any exhaust shop should be able to handle it in about 10 minutes.

If I were in your position (and I sort've am) I would take the safe route.

Think of it this way, by getting a catted X, you:
-lose only a few hp (I'd say less than 5)
-will pass emmissions if/when they come back
-your exhaust won't be so loud that your ears bleed :D

I agree. Unless you are racing it at the track all the time, you dont need to get the o/r x. Unless you want the sound. Im here in Va. and I went with the hi flow cats cause of our emissions laws. And I know a few emissions inspectors that have turned in people who tried to slip them a few dollars to pass so its getting tougher to buy a "PASS". And dont worry about the hp loss, you will never feel 2-5 hp.

Well this car is most likely never going to see the track. I just don't have the money to compete in something like that.As much as i wish i could i can't. So my car is mainly going to be a street cruiser with the capability to kick some ricer a**!!! I guess it will a car built for show not for go.

Well which brand should i go with? I have always read people downing MAC headers because once ther on if you have to take them off ever you'll never get them back on. But i don't ever plan on taking then off unless i was switching them out for something better.

Hooker, Flowtech, and SLP will allow access to the transmission without having to loosen/remove the headers. I'm not 100% sure about that with the SLP's but I do know that it's true with Hooker and Flowtech since they are practically the same header.

FWIW, if you're on a budget, go with the Flowtech's since they are basically the same as the Hookers at half the cost. However, if you do choose this route, keep in mind that the Hookers will be higher quality.

Do your homework on whatever LT you decide to go with....especially if you choose one of the above mentioned.

I have the o/r x with Flows. It is raspy as you get on it. I think it's sounds mean as hell. It really isn't too loud for normal driving. Now if your getting on it all the time then the law will definitly be able to find you.

Quick, SLP does not allow acces to the tranny. I wish it did, or I would already have them :( Kooks is another brand that does ($$$) however. SLP is a high quality piece however that comes ceramic coated.
