Got in a small agrument with parents.

Got off the phone with DSS for you...

I got a motor figured out for what you want.

Low Compression 306, since you want to add boost in the future.
4340 Crank
5140 I beam rods (OR H beams for +$200)
Dished forged pistons
and
DSS Main support

good for 650hp

$2259.95(with I beam rods, $2459 with H beam rods) + 180shipping
PLUS $110 for the gaskets

3379 is your estimate number(when you call, refer to that number)

Expect around 340fwhp on the DSS motor N/A.

Pete

Oh yea, one other thing. With the GT40 crate engine, that damn timing chain cover dont even fit our cars anyway!

If your current 306 is having blow by problems, why not just have it rebuilt? You dont need a new shortblock and with the $$ saved you could put it into more power mods like head milling, longtubes, custom cam..

thanks alot yellow5.0cobra. it's a stock block and was just bored out a bit.

if it's 2459 for those beams and 180 for shipping and 110 for gaskets how is the total 3379?

he already got trick flow stage 2, he already has exhaust, eventho it isnt longtubes... and he cant mill the heads, because he is going to add boost.

He also cant re-ring the block because his parents offered to buy him a new engine, and it will be more worth it in the long run to have a so much better shortblock that what he has now anyway.

PS:

THAT IS NOT THE TOTAL.

THAT IS YOUR REFERENCE NUMBER/ESTIMATE NUMBER!

So when you order, you tell them the reference number, and the engine will come on their computer. They just RE-VERIFY the parts you want and give them your CREDIT CARD info.

I told them to stuff it with:

DISHED FORGED Pro-Lite pistons(8.7:1 compression with your heads)
Forged 5240 I beam Rods ($200 option for forged H beam rods)
Forged 4340 Crankshaft
and
DSS MAIN SUPPORT

Pete :nice:

Total is like $2750.

ook, the total just has to be cheaper then the crate motor cuz that is the only way my dad will let me do it. but yellow5.0cobra, u were a big help and i appciate it, u def saved me from doin somrthing real stupid. thanks again man, and thanks everyone else. and yellow5.0cobra that short block is urs man!

Glad to hear it man! I've seen you talk about ordering that crate motor in several threads and I just thought you could do so much better for the $$$. Not only are you getting a DSS block with FORGED internals for your future blower, you'll be making more power than that GT40 crate motor for less money! Can't beat that!

Well, actually it might turn out to be about the same amount of money. If you have to pay for the head/cam/etc. install on the new shortblock, that'll probably put it up there with the price of the GT40 crate motor. But at least you'll have better internals and a more powerful setup.

holy **** man, i know who to talk to when i want an awesome setup. youll even order it for me and everything

Sounds like a win-win situation. I would stick with the old reliable 5.0 though, sounds like you have too much blood, sweat, and tears in the car you have now. And with the new engine, it will outperform the others. Good luck with your decision.

Pete, is the price u gave me with shipping lol, i can't call now cuz i'm in a 2 hour detention but i get to use the comp lol. if it is that's great if not how much would it be? i emailed the guy who is goin it and he wants 1000-1200 for labor. i'm also ordering long tubes and an off road x pipe. so hopefully this order won't go over 4500! thanks guys

one question, where do i get the gasket set?

Summit sells them. I was told Ford Racing and Trick Flow make complete engine gasket sets. Perhaps Fel-Pro does too...

P.S. Ya don't have to display your signature each time you post--takes up a lot of room. There was a sticky a while back and the mods asked that we just display our sig once per thread. ;)

Sorta skimmed through this thread but I don't think anyone mentioned that FRPP now has a FORGED short block assembly (M-6009-C347) pg22 in FRPP 2004 catalog. It is a 347ci and has a forged crank, forged rods, and forged flat top pistons. Seems like you were getting a good deal on the GT40 crate. Maybe that same source would hook you up with this short block.
