Yep finally, after a week or so of fiddling with it, I finally got my new engine to actually run. I ended up pulling the distributor off my old engine and dropping it in, and it fired right up. After I got the timing set, it runs good, oil pressure is good, pulling 18-20" of vacuum. Unfortunately, my cooling fans weren't kicking on and the engine was over 200 degrees so I shut it off until I could figure out what the problem was there. Looks to be something with my adjustable fan controller because I bypassed the relays and the fans kick on. guess I'll get it figured out eventually. I'm pretty stoked though!

Awesome Red, post some pics of her in there! I wish you were closer to me than 5 or so hours, I'd take the old engine off your hands.

Will do, I realized today I don't have any pics of it in the car with everything all together so I'll take a few in a couple days.

Well today I took the car out for a drive, seems to run quite well. The BOV is loud even at 10 psi I seem to be having some problems with the IAC though, car keeps wanting to shut off when I push in the clutch while slowing down.

And I was gonna take some pics today, but it started raining and I didn't get a chance to. I'll try to remember to get some on wednesday.

Ok ok...I just ran out and took a couple pics. Also found a small puddle of coolant on the ground. I cannot get the damn thermostat housing on this thing to seal Guess I'll have to get the coolant level much lower than the head and try it again, that must be my problem.

Looks good! Can you get a closer shot of how you mounted the BOV?

same problem I had with the temporary engine in my 88. damn thing leaked no matter what I did. oh well, I yanked that head off anyway.

how pitted is the housing where the heater hose attaches??

Well, what the problem has been is that I modified my thermostat housing, and it was sealed up good at first but I had to pull it off to fix something else, and every time I took it off there was just a little bit of coolant on the gasket surface (on the head) near the bottom when I reinstalled it, and I'm fairly sure this is what was allowing it to leak. So last night I drained the coolant down and made sure it was well below the thermostat hole, and wiped the surfaces down with mineral spirits. I hope this gets it.

Ash: Here ya go. I just welded a little piece of 1" pipe to my IC pipe, and I have the BOV clamped to that.
