After a while of trying to figure out what muffler to change to ( from flows ), i finally decided to give the spintech pro streets a try....glad i did.

spintech recommends multiple cats with these mufflers. i have mac shorties, no cats and a x pipe with pro streets and tail pipes. at idle the car -almost- sounds cammed ( stock engine ). inside the car there is little resonance, almost kinda quiet and no drone. i was worried the car was quiet outside....wrong! had a friend drive it while i stayed behind and listened. these things HOWL. the higher the rpms get, the raspier. sounds like a mod motor nearly cobra like. and its VERY loud. so far, everyone thats heard them likes them except for one person. i didnt even start the car and he found out i had them. he said it sounds like a camaro.......moron

i definetly am happy with them. if i can find the time, i will try to have a sound clip up.

for those of you in here that nudged me to go spintech, thanks!

Where did you get the mufflers at i was thinking about changing the ones on my 88 lx to spintechs. My buddy has a roush stage 2 with spintechs with the side pipes and it sounds wicked.

How did the fitmet go when hooking them to your tailpipes? Even with a double-offset, they still don' look wide enough to match a standard muffler width. Did you re-use tailpipes from a prior cat-back, or have 'em fabricated?

i was worried about the same thing. i knew the case was way narrower than a flowmaster. the muffler shop i took it to does very good work. and yes, i used my polished tails and they come out where they are supposed to.
i think what he done to make it work was cut the pipes between the X and the mufflers on each side and put new pipes in with the bends in there he needed ( mine were rusty anyway).

he said it wasnt too bad. so yes, spintechs and tails can work right :D

How much did the place charge to put longer intermediates on? I have intermediates but it might not work, so I might send them to a shop and have it fitted.

$82 for everything. little high i think but it is very neat

you can get them direct from spintech with flow tubes and hangers welded on, thats what i did and it fits great

I ran the Pro Streets with an x-pipe and a high compression motor with a decent cam. Those mufflers sounded like Satan belching out my tail pipes!! With a stock cam they sounded good, but once I switched motors the exhaust cracked and barked! It gets old on long trips, but it sure is cool when you want the attention.

Glad I have a stockish motor. Im hoping it sounds mean, and loud... As bad as it sounds I want it to sound like a modular!

i wanted that modular tone myself.

mac shorties, no cats, x pipe , spintech pro streets and tails.....it has that raspy 4.6 tone

:D

I have been reading about these as well. I have an offroad H on my GT and it used to have 2 chamber flows. I took the Flows off a while ago and switched to regular OEM style quiet mufflers. At the time the GT was my DD and I was tired of the noise and mainly tired of the DRONE from my flows.

How much louder are the spintechs than the 2 chamber flows? I like that everyone says they sound raspier than the flows. Are they really really loud at normal cruising rpm's, or do they just come alive as the rpms climb?

at crusing speeds, its fairly quiet inside with spintechs (long as you have tails). i have almost 0 drone now. the flows were louder inside.

the spintechs are louder idling and louder when you put your foot in it to me. they are very loud outside when you are behind it.

its definetly a different sound.....i like it
