i have a 99 gt w/112k miles. When i start of in 1st and gently let out the clutch it make a slight grinding noise until i get going. It does not do it all the way while lettign the clutch out but it seems to be at a certain point. I kno one of my steerign rack boots is shot but im wondering if it is the rear end or tranny (possibly low tranny or rear end fluid?). I plan on puttign 3:73's soon so if its the rear end its no big deal. Thats the best i can discribe it so if anyone has any ideas of what it can be or how i can narrow the choices down that would be great.

I took it to school today (mechanic night school) and my teacher took it for a drive around the parking lot and he says by driving it that short distance he thinks it is the dampening springs on the clutch plates.

i had a mechanic at work drive it like 30 feet and he said it is the syncros. I drove it around a bit after work and it actually makes the noise in reverse and i can get it to do it in 2nd. Am i correct in saying it is the TOB or a dampening spring in a clutch plate?
