Progress Thread Grover: Window motor replacement & OEM rebuild

I am in shock . One of my favorite cars on here ever !
Absolutely. I am/was in shock too, and it is my favorite car, not just on here, ever. Having known Joe and this car on this forum and corral for almost 2 decades, this was obviously a once-in-a-lifetime situation.

I knew something sounded fishy here...you bought one bad ass car! All these other cars in this thread are junk in comparison!
LOL! The only angles of this car that you can take a picture of, without it being a dead giveaway as to which specific car it is, are the three I posted, and even then I wondered how long it would take before someone drew a comparison. I wanted to slow-roll it to provide a little entertainment in the reveal, and to see who would put 2 and 2 together first, but didn't want to annoy everyone who was hungry for more details/pics.

Sweet deal Chris, I hope you hold on to this car for a long long time. What plans do you have to "make it yours"? I'd imagine smaller springs to bring the boost down to make it more streetable? Keeping it on E85? At least you seem comfortable with BS3.

On another note I just got a picture via text from Joe of what replaced his 93' GT. Don't worry about Joe, he's doing just fine!

Yes, he is!

I can't imagine any reason I would ever sell this car.

No to keeping it on E85, and we already made the switch. Joe didn't have E85 in his area and we were considering shipping options. So, I sent him my car's gas tune, plus a couple modifications, as a base tune. It ran rough on it, but that was sorted within an hour or so. Yes, I already have the spring to bring the boost down to streetable power levels. I'll bring it down to a number that keeps the rears planted in 3rd. However, that'll have to wait until I get a good dyno tuner in the area. I would try dyno tuning a lower-end n/a 302 myself to gain experience. I will not teach myself on this car, though.

As far as other changes go, I have no plans. I'm sure things will come up as time passes, but Joe did such an incredible job with it that I am in no great hurry to make any significant changes.

In the end, I had my best friend who lives not far from him in Pasco, WA, go get it last weekend, which shortened my trip by 5 hours round-trip. Then, I made the ~1,700 mile 33-hour round trip from Monterey to Pasco and back over 3 days, which allowed me to personally see that it was taken care of in my enclosed trailer.

Lol, that one from inside the restuarant had me wondering what wheels were on it, I just didnt want to ask a million questions and let you post when you were ready. Lucky you, awesome car. Nothing needed, except some detuning according to Joe.

Funny thing is that Joe and I have lived near each other for a long time. In San Diego we lived only 20 minutes apart but never met and didn't know each other. Then I moved out here to Spokane, Wa and he moved to Idaho and now we are about 45 minutes apart and met while buying/selling Mustang parts. I saw the 93' GT in person while at his house, you're a lucky guy to have picked it up. Enjoy!!

We can still cruise around this spring/summer. I plan on driving the replacement A LOT.

Yeah I seriously own 0 Mustangs. I sold off both of them, paid off the daily driver ( 2016 Camry ) and put the rest down on the C7

The replacement.

What color is that? Is it a burnt orange? We absolutely will still cruise!

Wow. I was wondering why your pics were so...vague. I would think someone who bought a nice car would be excited and posting 50 pics at a time.

I'm a little sad Joe sold the '85 though....but c7 is a good reason

Haha. Excited is an understatement. I am positively beside myself! I got it off the trailer, did not bother to unpack from the trip or to return my trailer to military MWR storage. I immediately began working on the driveability tune, and then since the weather was so nice, went for a cruise down Monterey's Cannery Row before stopping at that upscale international restaurant in downtown Pacific Grove.

Yes. I'm pretty sure the paint is original. Here're the pics everyone is asking for:

I'll have to snap one or two of the interior, though. The interior is also very clean.

There aren't any windshield wipers.:D That much horsepower you kind of create an atmospheric shock on any humidity in the surrounding air.......just sayin' Chris.......you want to see.:nice:
