My dad said I can't do performace mods to my car till i'm 17! JEEZUS THATS LIKE 8 MONTHS AWAY. WHAT DO I DO?
Guess I'll just do like appearance, maybe suspension.
Maybe I'll even install stuff without him noticing? Think If I add a s/c he will be able to tell? :p

i got my permit in january 03. they didnt let me get my license till that june. then with 11k in the bank, they said i couldnt buy a car til i was 17!(this was with my own money mind you). sooo i asked every single day then finally they said i could start looking. finally got my car in november. too bad i had to learn to drive stick in the winter :notnice: .

Parents are just trying to be parents....

If you're serious about racing the car, do stuff like upper and lower control arms. They'll help you out tons when you go to the track.

I guess I got lucky. When I started to drive my car (when I was 16), my Dad said, "what's the first thing you want to do to it?"

I was in heaven. :D

I know you don't / won't want to hear this, but, save up, study up on exactly what you can do for the $$ you'll have in the next 8 months.
In the meantime if it's ok go ahead and get the car handling right like you mentioned and be thankful that at least you do have a Mustang. Then when you get to do the HP mods your Mustang will be better to handle the extra punch and you'll really enjoy the new found HP more. :D :nice:

I've been on a strict set of rules with my car kinda...

While I'm paying off the loan (which, mind you, my parents have no part of), I can only spend money on the car to a)repair it, b) if i got the money from selling something, or c) if it was a present.

kinda sucks, but its helpin me pay off the loan WAY faster lol.

Yea consider yourself lucky you got a stang at 16. Be careful with it too, if I had my stang at 16, I would probably be dead now, lol. But if you build up your suspension, then when you do start doing go-fast mods, it will GREATLY help out, i.e. your rear-end: LCA/UCA's, springs, shocks/struts, etc. etc. Besides, with 8 months to research what performance mods you wanna do, you should know EXACTLY what you want by then, lol. Good luck

i got my mustang when i was still 16, my dad told me that i had to pay 100 a month(less than half the payment) but i had to pay for absolutly everything else, (repairs, mods, tires, broken stuff) And so much **** broke that i had to stop paying him 100 a month and put all my money into fixing it, between repairs, mods, and tires ive probly spent as much as the car cost. At the moment im funding myself a new transmission

i went though that too, once my dad realized i was responsible he was cool with me modding the car, just show your parents you can handle a mustang, and no be a dumnbass they'll come around, i dont have any mods...but if i had money i would lol...

I remember when I was 17 and got my first mustang. It was awesome. I knew nothing of performance. Everyone would ask me, "Does it have headers?" I would say no to any question they asked me about my car. Then when I started racing, I was beating camaros and trans ams (lt1s) left and right. Little did I know that my vert aode was capable of running 14.1 at the track. It was awesome tho!!!

Back to the topic, research what you want, and get it on your b-day.

Waaa I'm not allowed to do mods waaaa!! Learn to drive the fu cking car before you start adding sh it to it and wrap it around a tree driving it like an asswhole trying to impress your immature friends.

Sorry young one, I tell it like it is ;)

Like others have stated, save up the money and think about what you want to do first. Parents behave that way for a reason. They want to keep you safe and make sure you make the right decisions.

Hang in there, your time will come eventually. Save up for now.

My parents were the same way. If I had any money it was supposed to go towards my school loans.

suspension drag radials and gears will go un noticed

and i agree you should start fomr scratch and learn how to drive first.

it does no good to have power if you cant use it

learn to powershift and launch, then add mods for there... can you even race anywhere legaly at 16? i hope you arent street racing

It is just a car. Be glad you still have your parents around for them to tell you what to do.

You need to go right now and tell them that you love them. One day you won't have that chance.

Cars come and go but the memory of your parents will last a lifetime.
