Been gone awhile.. now I'm back.

Getting ready to buy a set of used GT-40P's. It's unknown how many miles they have on them. Anything I should look for?

Also do you recommend a spring change? If so which to go with?

I'm going to install a Ford Letter Cam with the heads. Any suggestions with my mods? B, F??

Will I need to change my rocker arms, lifters and pushrods? Or could those be reused?

Will I need higher valve covers?

And last but not least, What kind of headers do I need or is it a possibility that these heads can be used with regular header? I know I've seen someone do it before with the drawback being that the sparkplugs were a pain. Can it be done?

Thanks!

Oh I know I could.
But that's not the question. I'm doing a budget build because the car is almost paid off and once it is will remain in storage and be brought out only on RARE occasions and possibly to the drag strip twice a year. SO I don't want anything major. Just some extra grunt.

there is a site that sells a reasonably price header made specific for P heads, i don't recall the name right now.... have you sifter through the numerous p head threads we have had this past year..... some people list combos with the p heads, the mods to the heads, cams and power numbers....... not to mention i remember the headers form one of those threads...

im running 1.7RR's. my stock covers wouldnt fit over them so i got some fox covers.

in using taller VC's i had to use an 3/8" intake spacer

im alsp running non p-specific BBK shortie headers. the only thing is to change plugs your gonna have to cut a slit in a spark plug socket so that you can change the #7 plug. i also highly recomend running 90 degree plug boots

Wonder if it's just because of your Cobra intake that you had to use the spacer. I've got a friend with Fox VC's under an Edelbrock with no spacer. I have an Edelbrock. You think that could be the difference??

Also I have been checking out the more recent P threads but I haven't found any really good ones with parts and combo's listed.

One of the benefits of running an Edel intake is they have a bit more room for things to fit.

I have several friends who run them as I do and none of us use a spacer.

I wouldn't get 1.7 RR if I were you. If you want more lift, just get a bigger cam. Although, P heads don't flow very well in larger lifts in stock form. Plus, roller rockers tend to be noisier than hell. Just keep the stock rockers and valvecovers and spend your money on something usefull.
