GT Trumpets (65-66) new style

I have the older/original GT trumpets on my car. The FPA Tri-Y headers and the Arvinode exhaust are being shipped this week.

It got me thinking about those new trumpets...larger diameter 2" to 2.25" with the modified louvers. The new ones have the less restrictive louvers...they are opened up more.

Does anyone have experience with these new ones? Does it change the exhaust tone (better or worse)

The OEM louvers were actually wide open, at a 45°. We've all gotten used to the repros, which are always too flat. I use a needle-nose pliers on them to twist the louvers open to where they should be.

Thank you for the advice. I bought mine around 1990, and I bought the expensive ones back then..I think they had two types back then...they were probably $79-$89 in 1990 or so.

If you had to get new trumpets, which ones do you like "2+2"...who has a good one?

The "show correct" tips from Drake are excellent. If you want the bigger diameter, though, get the ones you mention. Of course, the Arvinode is sized for the stock item, so you should be good with that.
