Hey, I have a set of Twisted Wedge heads I plan on puting on in the next month or so when I get all the other needed parts. I originally planned on going with either a track heat or street heat intake but may get a decent deal on a GT40. How well do they match up? Good combo? or should I get somthing else. Also, can the GT40 be ported much with its design?

Thanks,
Steve

I run TFS TW and gt-40 intakes, the lower one is ported to #1262 fel-pro intake gaskets. For the upper one,no porting seem possible. The mouth was port at 76mm.

Are you happy with it? Any complaints? How does it compare to the trickflow intakes or other similar intakes?

I also use the GT40 intake with the TW heads and agree with bock on the porting. The lower is a good port candidate but the uppers are not. THEY ARE JUST SO COOL AND TUBULAR! But seriously, they are suppose to be able to support up to 425 HP.

Match the intake to the head size. Some have 1250 size runners and some have 1262 size runners. Also, there is power in reshaping the short side and to lesser extent long side of the runner walls to let the high velocity air make the turns better.

Would I have to port the GT40 bottom with this setup? If so, maybe I should go with an intake thats already better matched?

IMO, you should go w/ a larger intake. The TW heads i believe will flow in the 250 cfm range which is quite a lot, and i think the intake won't go over 210 or 220. In addition, i'm pretty sure the TW heads are closer to a 1262 than a 1250 gasket, but i'm not sure about that. I would do a little research and pick an intake that will flow the 250 - probably an ebrock rpm or TW track heat intake would do the trick.

If you want to maximize the use of the TW head flow capability, then yes you would have to port the Gt40 lower.

My heads are ported. Flowing 275cfm on the intakes at .500 of lift.Never try other intakes yet,but im thinking of a Performer rpm,or a little boost.

For now i think my heads flow to much for the intakes, but im pretty sure that if i put a fiew pound of boost on my combo, the difference should be important.

i won over a seconde on the ¼ with my mod.... so we can say its a good start for the part 1 of my mods.

Can't you use an extrude-hone process to port the upper or is that just on the Cobra's?

Just the Cobra or Explorer - the tubes on the GT40 are too thin to EH.
