gt40-p

If your car is stock, why don't you just have the stock lower ported and worry about the heads later when you have the money to do it right the first time..? Unless you are getting a killer deal.

Heads will probably give you 20 ~ 30 horses at the wheels, but your intake will hold you back a great deal

40-p's are a money sink. The exhaust alone will easily kill at least an additional $200 and you end up with heavy iron heads. That aside, they do quite well. An easy 25-30 hp. If I had to do over again, I would have just gotten some cheap edelbrock aluminum heads for $800, ported them and kept my existing exhaust and lost 50 pounds from the aluminum.

:stupid: Only I had my E7s ported :(

25-30 box. You can squeeze maybe another 5(more likely)-10(really good port) with some good porting. But those heads are iron! They take a long time to port! Took me 3 weeks to dremel them down and they were already half ported.

Make sure to sidegap and index your plugs to further multiply the advantage of the new sparkplug location. Oh and you need to ask for explorer 1995 plugs since the mustang plugs have a different thread. Ask for the cheapest one they have or they will give you platinums. Get the autolites. Nice thick copper plug.

MAC lt's rock, dont they? I woe on myself when starter changing time comes, though!

go to diyporting.com and do some reading. He has a gt-40p section.

I will more than likely have someone more knowledgable than myself do the porting. I dont know how well I like macs cause I bought my car in pieces (4banger conversion) and haven't finished assembling it yet. They were a ***** to put on though. I put my starter on saturday with no problems. I have boney hands though

with the right cam choice you should surpass 290 easily with that setup probably 300 hp mark

may i suggest my cam? comp xe270hr

that or an anderson b21 or b31 will work quite well.

you just want to upgrade the springs for the cam.

money sink my a$$

if you look at the link in my thread you can see some info on the gt40 setups we have been working on. a fox guy with my setup pretty close on there made 302/327 but his dyno graph is down now. he had the gt40 style intake

Well......I didnt get mine nearly for free, spent almost $800 on exhaust stuff (p specs then longtubes and midpipe), burned out 3 dremels porting them (yeah yeah, I know, die grinder but I didnt have one until recently), had to make 3 atttempts to make the intake finally seal and in the end I still have iron heads. So my gt-40p's plus the extra stuff I bought...heck I could have gone aluminum heads for the same money and far less parts swapping

Did you have to change anything other than the springs? I have Mac long tubes. What would it take to put up the numbers you are talking about?

I did the swap to gt40p i bought the heads for 200.00 bare found a guy in cali for the valves for about 100 to 150 springs off ebay 25 spring commpressor free from auto zone. And the performance is great it pulls all the way to 130 smokes the tires true 3rd. would do it over in a heartbeat the only thing is the headers you have to get p headers or you will have a hell of a time. Dont even think about making your old mac or like my old hookers work you will just piss yourself off messing with breaking plugs and burning plugwires.
