GT40 Tubular upper modification

I have read that people will cut off the pipe used to mount the intake where I circled, cut out the kink, weld in new sheetmetal to remove the kink, and use a stud and nut instead of the bolt. Does anyone know what the gains to be expected are, and if it is worth it for the time and $ involved? If I were to go all in like this, would it be worth it to do the back one as well?

It's a pretty good intake box stock.
Me personally i'd never risk that on a gt40 tubular intake.

See, that's the thing. If it'll make a huge difference, I'll think about it. I know some good welders, and after being repowdercoated, it will look great. But if it's not a very big difference, I'm not really interested in messing with my upper. I got it paired with a full s trim kit for $1k. It's not like I'm going to lose money if I sell it while it's still stock.
