gt40p heads

pretty sure you can get away with stock headers on P heads but they have a different plug angle. there was a list of aftermarket headers that worked on P heads also but i cant remember all of them. so you MAY need to get new headers

you will NEED new headers.
i bolted up a pair of stock 94-95 headers to a set of p's i had laying around.
will not clear plugs.
i've heard BBK shorties will clear the plugs.

Just keep in mind that the stock intake will choke any gains that may be had from the GT40P upgrade if you are expecting any horsepower increase. The stock intake lower is the problem area but it can be ported to increase the flow enough to see some gains from the heads. The stock intake flows about 130cfm, the stock E7 heads flow about 160cfm....if you are looking for a H.P. bump, then I would just upgrade your intake to a GT40 intake and pick up the 30 cfm increase. Intake swaps are easy, cheaper, and should be done before the heads anyway in my opinion.
If you are trying to look factory then have the lower intake ported, TMOSS provides a port service for the stock lowers.

You can always pick up an 96-97 Explorer intake. They are running around $75-100 for the upper and lower. Those years contain the internal EGR.

But yes, you cna put the stock intake on in the meantime.

Thanks for all the replies guys the reason i was asking was because i found a deal on a set of remanufatured gt40p heads for super cheap so maybe i'll just buy them and when i can afford an intake purchase that and install it all at once...:nice:

Mac, BBK, and FRPP shorty style headers will clear the plugs. I am also told that 351 swap headers will as well, but I cant say they will with any certainty.
