head gaskets, intake gaskets would also be a good start

its not realy that hard. The hard part is not saying "well I am this deep and all why not swap in a new cam?" get a good gasket set from fel-pro,ROL, comtec, ect.

one word of advice, if u have a set of aftermarket shorty headers and really dont want to part with them, u can reuse them as long asu buy a set of plug wires with 90 degree sprak plug boots. i bought a set from msd and have never had any problems at all with them.

ok ordering the gasket set tomorrow..

Mac-Man.. where did you get the wires from? and how much did they cost? i really dont wanna have to buy new headers if i dont have to.

Also thinking about getting 1.7 rockers.. is 5/16 the correct bolt size??

and if any has any input as to what CAM would work good with my set up that would be awesome

i and a few others on here run the crane 2031 cam with gt40p heads

you can use your BBK headers with 90 degree boots. also youll need to cut up a spark plug socket to change the #7 sparkplug

the wires i got from jegs. they costed about 57 bucks for the set, and they were cut to fit. it was a lot cheaper to do this rather buy a new set of headers so i chose that route. call jegs and tell them u want a set of plug wires for ur year model mustang but u want 90 degree plug boots for the spark plug ends, and they will be able to fix u up

i wouldnt reuse the stockers, throw em out and buy a set of ARP's i think their like $30... cheap insurance so you dont have to pull them back off in the future

the head bolts get torqued down to either 60 or 65lbs if i remember right

You might have to get different spark plugs too if I remember right. It's been a while since I did my swap.

yeah they are different. i ran autlite 764's with those plugs. they run the same spark plugs as the modular ford engines.

yep diff. plug than the GT, I run NGK's stock range is tr5, I run a tr6 (one step colder) for the bottle.

DO NOT re-use the head bolts, they streach. with the ARP headbolts I trq. my non-P gt40's fel-pro gaskets to 75 on the exh side and 80-85 on the intake side per the gasket rec. This helps offset the wedge/angle the head is laying on the block.

Can we not talk about how much iron heads weight? i just did my head gaskets today, after doing them two weeks ago. My knees feel like their going to explode, along with my neck and back! Im not gonna say quite yet... but it might be whiplash... I need a lawyer im going after ford for their use of 500 lb heads!
