guess my problem and win a lap dance

here is just a thought..
when you go in reverse the motor tips the opposite way it does when going forward. could be possible that it is grounding a wire when it does. maybe with the hood up at night, have someone stand in front as you try reverse to see if he sees any spark.

the other thing is you said it did it after you hit this bump. when you move the shifter to reverse, look all around the linkage under the car. it may be hitting something, or grounding a wire. you may be able to see marks in the area where it hit and look in that area.

try putting the car in nutral and see if it rolls easy backwards as well. if there was any damage in the driveshaft, rear, brakes areas it may be binding in reverse ( like backing up while rear bumper is against a wall, just almost stalls.)

just a couple things to try to eliminate.

and GOD i hope you are a girl LMAO!

problem solved. It was the map sensor. I had every sensor on the tranny and clutch unplug and it still did it. Then started under the hood and unplugged the map sensor. No more bucking in reverse.

I got the new map sensor put it in and was pleasently surprised that it also solved my surging idle as well. Never got a check engine light for the map sensor though.

Dan, what made you check the MAP sensor? I'm curious as to how that was the cause of your problem? I'm glad you figured it out as I was drawing a blank on this one...

BTW- did you move already?

Paul,
I started unhooking every sensor. Started with everything on the tranny and none of them was the cause. So i moved to the engine bay. I unhooked the map sensor first. Started it up and of course got a constant check engine light. Pulled it out and backed up. Backed up fine. Got the new map sensor and all is well. I still dont understand what a map sensor has to do with backing up but, problem fixxed.

I moved about a month ago. Much nicer house but now no garage at my house. Jamie's dad is letting me use a bay in a 3 car garage that he has a few blocks from my house.

That is puzzling, I can't for the life of me figure out how that fixed it, but it did and that's all that matters. I forgot to email you and let you know Tom gave me his eec tester last week at the track to let you use, if you still need it I have it.

:OT:
Did Jamie get a newer mustang? I drove past her parents and I thought I saw her in a 99-up one.

Paul,

I would still like to use that scanner. Let me know when is good to pick it up from you.

Not sure if you knew but jamie's black 94 got totaled. Someone hit it and took off leaving the whole drivers side rear quarter moved up to the door.
So she got that 99 hunter green with tan top and tan leather. She loves it but, she should have got a gt. Its just a v6 but, still a nice car.
