Fixed the same thing in my buddies vert bout 3 years back,.. did it without dropping the tank. Pain in the arse it was...

Could you guys give some pointers on how to do it without dropping the tank? I have the same problem...

dropping the tank is no big deal, but i cant seem to figure out a way to do it another way.

2 bolts and its down. then one bolt for the neck support... then give the tank a swift kick from the side and it will pop out.

That has happened to me also =) If change the fuel pump and the tank has never been dropped. It is always a good Idea to replace that even if you dont tear it when dropping the tank. I was going to 39th street (Route 66) on saturday night. Stopped to fill up and say gas running out the filler grommet. Quick way to ruin my night =)

I always learn something from this site. I have a 255 pump and a NEW grommet waiting to install. I hope it only take me an hour, but I doubt it.
