So I went to a friends wedding last night, and a guy i met there started chatting, and cars got brought up. He said he had a 96 LT1 auto Slomaro. He said he had it up to 425HP before he had to sell it, He was going on and on about boring it out to a 383 it he'd have over 700hp if he did. The guy is originally from Cali, but came to MO for school, he said he took a driving instructional course on Laguna Seca, and the car he was driving with was a Viper. He said word for word "My camaro pulled way harder than the viper did on the track". I didnt want to be rude or anything, but the kid didnt seem like the brightest about automobiles. It felt like I was talking to the girlfriend, just kept nodding my head and a yes here or there. He was a ford basher too, I told him I had a slow 4.6 spd, but had some plans for it down the road. He didnt say anything about it, just a big grin. Anywwayys, theres my story, lets here some more!

Im sorry, but my brother in law raced for Dodge back in his day, and is one of three people in the U.S. that owns a GTS-R Viper, plus three other ones. and im telling you now, you need a crap load of crap to pull on just a stock viper, and guessing that the viper he supposebly drove was track equipted , then he is full of feces if he thinks a LT1 camero can pull on a viper, and im no dodge fan, but the viper is one car they built with quality.

or - he pulled on the trailer that was towing the viper while on the highway en route to the track - thus, technically, making him pull on the viper

Yea, I love to do that. Unfortunately some people ignore it and go on with the conversation as if nothing was said to portray their stupididty.

fix't

i remember when they first came out. they were awesome and fast. but in a day when you can buy a factory mustang with 500hp the 450 the original viper doesnt seem all that impressive anymore.

Once in awhile I help out and work PT at a gym. I cant tell you how many people I know that ask me or other people "whats your max bench?" No matter what I say, they are always going to have a comeback story and say "my friend benches 900". I always tell people that my max bench is 135. Then it shuts them up.

Sounds like this Camaro guy. When you encounter a schmuck like this who "bench races", just tell them you drive a Mustang and it has 200horsepower. Its always better to step away from these people than to get into a HP pissing match. I like meeting strangers who have Camarobirds and say they ran 13.5 and talk normal about their car. I cannot stand "my cousin's stage 3....." stories.

Also, when I attend car shows there are always those with stock appearing 5.0's and 4.6's that have "a supercharger on order". I hate those stories too.
