for smog pump removal is it just as simple as taking off the pump and lines and adding a delete kit or am i looking at computer modifications blah blah blah.

Actually, it's a little more simple than that. Just buy a shorter belt and let everything sit where it is . The only reasons I can think of to remove it would be for weight reduction and because it's ugly down in there. Plus, you're ready if you ever have to pass a visual emissions test

I think I was down to an 82.7 or somewhere in that area. I don't recall for sure.

I used an 887K6 to bypass the smog pump with ASP pulleys. Had to boil it in water to get it to go on the first time.

What are the advantages of running a short belt and bypassing the smog pump? Is it gonna free up some HP? In other words, is it worth $30 for a new belt?

Well, don't forget that the smog pump runs piping to the back of the heads. You can solve this issue by removing the piping, cutting the piping off at the connecting adapters and then turning the adapters around before re-installing them.
