Handbrake sign turns on when car is launched hard

I have a 91 gt that when is launched hard, its handbrake(parking) light turns on around 3000rpm but when i let off, so does the sign. can anyone explain this? it kind of freaks me out every time i race because the red light pops out all of a sudden. weird

Check your brake fluid level. Mine goes off if the fluid level goes below the level of the sender during turns or launches

agreed. the fluid might be low. assuming you have no leaks and dont top it off, that would suggest that the pads/shoes have worn down a bit and might be needing replacement at some point here.

My dads did this, the ebrake light came on when launched but would go off till the end of the track. We also found out that if you lift the slightest bit on the lever the light came on. We figured the lever just moves slightly on launch and causes the light to go on!

mine is the same way

I would lean toward low fluid, rather than a mechanical issue.
