Hard Fuel Line install-Impossible?

I've spent at least 5 hours trying to figure out how to get my new hard fuel line into my 65. The old one I cut into 3 pieces to get out. I simply cannot get it in. I cant get it to cross the break cable lines in the places it needs to. How did you guys get yours in?

From behind the left side of the car, I fed it over the axle and then pushed it as far forward as possible. I went to the front and used the mounting clamp to attach it to the inner fender. I lined up the line along the lip for the gas tank and secured it with the mounting clips. All I did then was move along the line bending as needed to shape it into position. I placed the mounting clips on it as I went along so it would fight back. As I remember it really wasn't that difficult, but then, there was no driveshaft or exhaust system in the way.

Did it on a 1966 3/8 in stainless version. Started off with the car lifted off the ground with jacks (do not lift the rear with jacks under the rearend, you may need the extra room). Exhaust was removed, but the rear shocks were still on. Plug the new fuel line to prevent material going in the line. With the line under the car, I fed it back over the rearend in a twisting motion. The line will hit just about everything, but it can be bent slightly to help accommodate the placement. After rear section is in position leave it loose so you can position the front through the suspension and engine compartment. Bolt and clamp and your ready to go.

well...i fed it up under the car from behind, and its starting to get into place. everything is fine in the front, but in the back the line needs to go above the break line to the rear, but around the shock. I dont think its possible for me to make it fit without pulling it all out. I may just disconnect the brake line, put the fuel line over it, and reconnect the brakes.I need to bleed the brakes anyways.

Where is the V8 fuel line supposed to be routed in the front in the engine compartment? All I had for reference before is my I6 line.

It crosses the frame where the toe board meets the front floor pan and goes outside the frame rail and runs up the frame, to the LH front fender apron. THere is a hole that the end sticks through. Then a rubber grommet centers it.

I submitted a similar thread on the same subject recently. I am going to have to cut my old line into sections to get it out. My problem is I can't see how to get the new line underneath a rear suspension brace that runs from one side of the car to the other just in front of the fuel tank. It looks as if the brace was installed before the fuel line went in by the PO, judging by the paintwork, but I can't see how he did it.

What I found to work for me was to not cut your old line to get it out.

I don't remember what all I had to take off to get the old line out in one piece, but once it was out of the way the new one went in fairly easily. If you cut the line, it is harder to figure out.

Thanks for the input. I had no idea that it was routed outside the engine compartment and then back in. Does it have any mounting clips or tabs between the grommet and where it goes under the frame rail?

Yes, at least two bolted clips. We get our clip kits from kentucky Mustang. Kentucky Mustang 1-888-861-0176
Has al the clips fot the fuel and brakes lines. Most complete kit I have found. And I keep a bag of used clips to media blast if needed. I never seem to have enough.

why not just use a rubber line?

I bought 3/8 steel line and bent mine myself. It is all one piece and routed around the outside of front frame, similar to stock.
