A 5pd tranny question out there for anyone who has experienced this problem or has hopefully a cheap fix.

The situation is that when i pull a fast shift from 1st to 2nd it very hard to get in, and i usually blow the shift. I have the car for over a year now and i used to be able to bang really quick shifts in all gears, but for some time now it has been very notchy. Third and forth still shifts nice and smooth. The gears don't grind. Makes me think it could be just a sticky synchro hub and not necessarily a bad blocker ring. I was thinking there might be a different fluid a guy could use to aid the transition through the gears. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

BTW....this is my first post....great to be among some folks who truly appreciate the Mustang! :hail2:

I've had the same problem with some T-5s I've had and now with my freshly rebuilt Tremec 3550. Every time I've had them tore down it's either been a bad blocker ring, a bad syncro (even if it doesn't grind) or a shift fork. the shifter rail goes through the shift fork, and that hole can become oblong or out of round causing sloppy and hard, or impossible powershifts or simple fast shifting.

I aggree with the syncro's.. I have personally destroyed 2 t-5's lol and when they start to go,.. its almost allwayse a problem with 2nd gear.

One of the traney's would only stay in gear when throttle was aplied... if you let off, it would jump out. that box was HURT!!
