has anyone raced a stock gsr?

I was wondering if anyone here has raced a fairly stock integra gsr.

One of my friends has one, and is relying on numbers he found online about where we would be in a race. I plan on going down to englishtown once it opens up again, or taking a ride to atco, and running up against him.

I think my cars fairly stock except for some flow masters [ i bought it used, and theres nothing that I can see that looks aftermarket, besides the mufflers].

I've got a 1994 mustang GT with a 5 speed.

I don't want to put any money into the car just yet for go fast parts, i'm going to wait until the power I have now i get tired of and want more.

eventually I'd like H/C/I, with a KB supercharger. hopefully buying the supercharger in late April.

It really depends what he has done with it. If both of you have experience driving your car on the 1/4 mile then I'd say you'll take him but not by much. You should be good for high 14s with some practice while he'll be in the mid to low 15s. I wouldn't take this lightly though, stock for stock there's not much of a 1/4 mile difference.

A friend has one. I believe it is the GSR. He ran the equivalent of a mid-15 if I recall.

I believe you will take him, without too much issue, unless I am missing something.

he has no serious mods done to it.

he has a CAI, and exhaust, don't think he has anything else.

everytime i've seen it on the street, it just seems to be making alot of noise, and not going anywhere.

anything I can do to guarantee a kill?

i've got about 500 bucks that i could put into the car right now. I'm not sure how many miles are on the engine, we're not sure if its the stock engine, theres 200,00 0 on the body.

Throw a set of 3.73 gears in there.

I agree get the 3.73's and you'll have no problem beating him, or even cheaper off-road h-pipe or x-pipe. That one one of my first mods and made a big sotp difference. It might not be as big of a difference with a GT but it woke up my car a little. Plus you can pick up a BBK H pipe for under $150 and it's fairly easy to install.

yeah i forgot to mention i want to put all new exhaust on

what i was thinking was bassani long tube headers
not sure on the h or x pipe, but most likely off road pipe, and slp loudmouth 2 catback.

would gears like 4.10s be even better?

i drive on the highway everyday, but from the corral rpm calculator, i would be under 3 grand doing 75

Under 3 grand is still high at 75.

I have 3.73's in my 5-speed and I wouldnt have gone any higher.

yeah i haven't driven the car for over a week, and i can't recall how high it was at 75 with stock gears.

im putting a new tranny in right now, so i wont be able to drive the car until maybe sunday.

You should have him gears 1-4, once both of you hit 5th he'll reel you in....

dont think it will get up to that in the quarter mile though would it?

i'm unexperienced in the quarter mile, but i can't see making it past 4th gear I could be wrong though.

For bang for the $$$, I would get some pullies, bump the timing to 13-14*, and get a drop in K&N filter or maybe one of those E-bay CAI/air sucky tubes...but I dont put much in the gain that air sucky tubes "claim". Practice is also worth its weight in gold...go out and find were you can launch at without spinning and find that sweet spot...were the car does not bog at take off or does not spin the tires. I bet these things alone will 100% put you in the win.

I gained more from the pullies and timing than the gears and gears plus install will be right at 500$. Pullies and timing will be about $100 or so to find a girl and take her out and your up 300$ to order the gears and wait to have installed....

what pullies do you recommend?

I've read horrible things about the mac ones, about problems people had when they installed theirs and had stuff like the air conditioning on, the radio and the lights on.

my brother built a 302 and put it in his old fox that he would race, so he said he could recommend a couple things to do to make my car run more effecient for the track, recommend how to launch without being stuck at the line spinning the tires.

the gears i would install at my house, my dad was a auto technician for 30 something years, so hes done them before, and i think my brother most likely has too, so if i had any problems i'd know who to turn to.

I was questionable about getting a CAI, cause i've heard mixed reviews on the power they give you, if any, over stock airbox with a good air filter.

+1 for pulleys and bumped timing. Also, don't overlook basic tune-up parts.

as far as gears. 3.73s are fun.....I've been in a street car with 4.10s and it wasn't much fun at all. Traction wasn't too great, shifting more than I wanted to, higher rpms cruising around...just not for me with the combo I have. If you're planning on doing a SC later on down the road...I look at maybe some 3.27s.

Here's a good idea. Do a compression/leakdown test and see how your bottom end is. If your bottom end seems good....then take that 500 and put it towards a zex kit. They can be had fairly cheap...just make sure you set the timing back a bit and run some higher octane stuff from the pump.

haha nah, its at the quarter mile at raceway park or atco raceway or speedway or whatever.

although, raceway is closed down for the season or whatever, and atco is far. if i could find a closer way to race legally, that would be great.

and i was thinking nitrous at first. and thats what my brother recommended, for more power, for the money. if i was going for a big thing like that, i can wait a little bit and save up more. I would want to put a good wet kit on.

although, if my engine is the stock engine in the car, its got 200,000+ miles on the bottom end.

as long as everything will work out fine with a SC on my engine, i'd like to definitely add one in april.

get some drag radials and learn to launch
check it out my friend showed me how to launch these cars
with some nittos bring your rpm to about 3500 - 3800 rpm
then bring clutch up to right before it engages
on your launch bring up the clutch kinda quick and you will launch pretty good

For pullies, ASP makes a beautiful set of aluminum ones.

For 500 bucks, I'm with 5spdGT, put some gears in that bad boy. Whether you go 3.73 or 4.10, thats up to you. I had 4.10s in mine... either way you'll knock about half a second off your times from stock form.

get an off road x pipe. its a little more money but i recommend a dr gas x pipe. i have mac pullies and had no trouble with them at all. put some 93 octane in the car, bump the timing up to 14-16 degrees, while those cai dont show much gain on the dyno is because the car is sitting still. its not gonna do its job to suck cold air while the car is sitting still. if your cats are getting clogged then your best bang for the buck will be the midpipe. i personally like dr gas cause of the sound and its a better design than the rest and a few more hp too.

if you do all that you should definatly have no problem taking that acura or just about any mild import for that matter.

couldnt tell you on the gears cause i havent done them yet but are getting some 3.73s.
