Header Ground Clearance

Makes sense Grady. I would have liked to see lowest point included but ok. :)

"Notice the Vert frame rail is 1 1/4" lower than my GT
which is obviously an indicator of his lower ride height"

Which explains why when I went to "C" springs I scraped EVERYWHERE!!!:notnice: Yea it looked cool. But I prefer to not be driving around like fred flintstone after a year.

I'm lowered on Eibach Sportlines and I have stock headers and a Summit o/r h-pipe. My lowest point is the clamp that holds the 2 halves of the h-pipe together, and its 2.25" from the ground. :( I bottom out on really high speed bumps, but other than that I'm normally ok...but god, thats low!

Sorry, I meant lowest point of ground clearance.

I understand Mr. Keith :)
and
That is what I meant by the wording "lowest point"

But to make it as clear as I know how .....

I have no more ground clearance than 4 and 3/8 of an inch on my
exhaust system which makes it the lowest point on the system
with respect to the ground

You and Me :)
We now be on the same page with all of this my friend :nice:

Some times ... my choice of wording could be better :bang:
but
As I have pointed out before ;)

Just how much can you really expect from
Some hick in Texas who found a laptop

My measurements are off then. I was thinking you took the measurement from the pinch rail not the front subframe. I'll redo my measurement this afternoon.

So interesting how we all can see things differently :D

I got under there one more time

I observed the rail I'm talking about is right next to where the tunnel
for the ds starts to be formed.

I'm pretty sure some are calling it the subframe rail :)

Now the pinch rail

I kinda think that is closer to the side of the car kinda close to the side
skirts and looks to be two pieces of metal that are... pinched ... together

I'm gonna quit now before I make things ... even worse :rlaugh:

That's right. The way you first described it that's what I was thinking you was talking about. I never did remeasure my car's exhaust clearance because of my other problems I've been chasing down. I'll try to get to it today if I can remember to do it.

"From the ground to the lowest point which is the collector flange is 4 3/8""

I must be stupid. I didn't see the above ^ the first time you posted. er...maybe you added it later. No biggie!! Very interesting thread. 1/2 of me wished I could lower the car more..the other half is glad I cant (without tearing the guts out of it on [raised] manholes). Why? Because I don't like feeling like I am looking UP at everyone on the beltway. Kinda like the visibility I have now. :)

Stock height
BBK shorties, catted X-pipe

My lowest exhaust point is about 4" from the ground.
*I wonder if my worn out exhaust hangers is contributing to my low exhaust.*
My distance from 'frame' to ground is about 7"!!
WTF?!?!

Great ... We now have some shorty header data using the same
measurement guidelines

Thanks so much for the measurements :nice:

We have the distance from ground to bottom of frame rail at 7"

We have the lowest point at 4"

We can ascertain that lowest point is 3 inches below the frame rail :)

Please define that ... lowest point :D
and
Be specific ;)
