headers...yet agian..but searched 1st

OK, im a newbie to the v6 power arena and so far have found myself quite impressed with v6 bolt ons for the almighty mustang. considering that its low man on the mustang totem poll and more people just trade up the line (ex: OxMox). Heres my delema my wife doesnt want to trade out of her V6...now so i get about 600 to finish her car off with. As with most wifes theres a catch, it has to increase power it needs to make the engine and exhaust go...and i quote "BOOM" :nonono: (but i love her anyways:shrug: ). so...i've done the search...and the research with these conclusions as i live in Florida and smog or emissions test are not happening anymore so im going/leaning with longtube headers and a diablo chip. The long tubes add from best i can tell 15 horses or so and the added sound she demands. The snag is there are no long tube for the 98 :bang: never easy is it? so heres the question.....finally......Can i modefy the 97 longtubes to the 98 fairly easily. Mac has an awesome set for a desent price at V6mustangstuff.com $259 free shipping i think. but like always no fit 98 V6 just up to 97. i have heard rumors the only diff. is the EGR tube needs modify if so project on!!!!!:nice: but i get one shot at this and of the 5 "mustang guys" at local shops and e-mails with vendor sites they will not match and modefying is virtually impossable. SO please help a 4.6 guy with a stupid newbie question :(

Yes, 97 LTs can be modified to work on a 98. The problem is the EGR I think, but you just cut and weld it where you need it. LTs are best performance and best sound from my understanding, but downside is cost more and I know for 99+ they hang kind of low so speedbumps become worse than the devil. Not only that, you need an LT H-pipe.

  wow a reply :SNSign: i was starting to wonder because it is a good chunk o da green stuff and altho my research has been extensive i need something to help me get over the hump and buy em. As for a special H pipe.....???what H?? i just took 2 1/4 stainless and bent it with a basic pipe bender from the punched cats and my mech and i went to local u-pull it and snagged tail pipes off a 96 GT to finish the job hehehe <got em for free too just threw em over the fence  im in college with no money whats a guy to do  as for ground clearence hers isnt dropped so that might help a little...right?? thanks again and anyone else who may know something feel more than happy to add your 2cents

Well, I don't know what the clearance is like on pre-99s, it might be ok, I just know it would hang on my 2000 and lowering over an inch isn't good, and speedbumps are evil. And special h-pipe, not entirely, just need a pipe that fits is all, seems like you got that down lol.
