Hey guys, I will start with introducing myself. My name is Matt and I live at the end of Z-max dragway in Concord, NC. I've always loved cars and working on them. I work for a race tean in the engine shop so I'm not a total newb but kinda uneducated in stangs. I own a 91 lx hatch 5 sp with a tfs1 cam, edel rpm II intake, shorties, 3.73 and a few others. My question is I'm getting a set of edel performer rpm heads with 1.90/1.60 valves and I have a comp xe274hr cam just lying around heckeling me, will this combo work with a stock bottom end or will I have to flycut? Just trying to prepare myself for anything. I also know to check p2v on any cam change no matter what "they" say. If I have to I will stick with the tfs1 cam until I can afford to build a bottom end. Oh yeah the car is going to be a street/strip car NOT a DD

Highest lift you can go is a .535 lift on stock pistons before you have to cut.

Edel performers with 1.90 intake, E-303 and 1.72 RR's put me at .534 lift and .075 v/p/ clearance.

.535 factors in the combined lift with rockers and the valve size of 1.90 intake.

Aftermarket slugs leave a lot more room on the table.

.050" lift has ZERO to do with p to v clearance. Measure to know for sure.

That's why I used clay, cut it in half and measured a cross section of the indentation where the valve smooshed it

To measure is to know.

That is a completely ridiculous statement. What about valve size? duration? the valve timing of the cam? cam timing? There is NO way to say what will or will not work. There is no general rules. The only option is to measure. If I had to guess I would think you might be alright with that setup. I would throw the cam and heads on and check. If it's a no go just put the tfs cam back in.
