I just used oil on my rocker stud bolts.

You might want to see if you can pick up some cam lock plate bolts if its a high mile motor just some cheap security (I found out mine were bad when they broke while trying to take them out) I believe your have to retorque those in inch#'s check your haynes though.

I'll try to check the site next weekend to try and follow your progress good luck.

Grady, the instruction packet (kinda cheap but it got the point across) that came with the heads said to absolutely do not use anti-seize on the studs. They said just coat them lightly with oil, I'm guessing to keep the studs from damaging the threads they go into.

Thanks Dave, I didn't plan on using anything on the studs.

So I figured thread sealant would really be the only thing I would need to use with the nuts/bolts right? Especially the timing cover ones? Another thing, is there any reason for me to replace my spark plugs with some different ones while I'm in there? I changed them at 80k when I got the car, but I don't even remember what kind I put in there. I'm gonna upgrade the ignition system next (6AL, coil, cap/rotor, 9mm wires, possibly plugs) and if I'm gonna need better plugs, I'd rather do them now.

put plenty of anti seize on your spark plugs, intak bolts and header bolts.

also i didn't see a torque wrench listed in all your tools. you'll need that.

Well, truth be told, I sold the TwEECer & throttle body, and the upper/lower intake has been removed. I hate to say it, but I think that qualifies as turning my back on the old girl . I just need to get off my lazy butt and finish the mess before the GT500 comes out, so I'll have a place to park it . (yes, I'm so lazy it could be another year, it seems like... )

you can get a set of autolite plugs for like $9, i dont see why not to replace them

Got a torque wrench, I just didn't mention it cus it's kind of a common tool, unlike a power steering pulley puller.

yeah the aluminum heads take a different plug. I know on my afr's they take the 3924's.
I'm pretty sure that the trickflow heads are the same but it should tell you in the instructions what plug to use.

Yup they are the same as the AFR's get the 3924's and if you want to go colder then get 3923's if you can find them (this is an autolite plug stock #) you can cross it to whatever you want but the autolites are cheap and they work also I run my gap @ 0.035 for when ever I hook up the bottle and decide to have some fun.

All right, got the plugs, gapped them at .054 and put them in with some anti-seize.

Quick question about the rocker arms. I was sort of putting the heads together just to see how it all worked, and am a little confused about how the rockers install. They are 7/16" stud mount. I put the guideplates on, then dropped the rockers over the studs. Now the fulcrum nut is the one that the adjusting nut threads into right? How do you secure the rockers? Do you thread that nut all the way down on them, then tighten the adjusting nut on top of that? I tried it a couple different ways, and didn't see an obvious right way.

no the allen screw on top is just to lock it into place. Just set your rockers to zero lash and go 1/4 to 3/4 turn past and then lock it into place oh and you might not get them all right the first time I know I had a couple clackin at me when I did mine but I re-lash mine with the engine running.

Zero lash meaning no up and down movement?

4 more hours. lol, I already pulled out my TW heads and put the guideplates and studs in loosely. I also gapped the spark plugs, and put them in. I'm thinking about taking them out and side-gapping them, but I'm not sure. I inserted all my thermactor plugs, I'm doing as much as I can while I'm at work. lol

One time when I was trying to do my c/c plates, I threw a flathead screwdriver and put a hole through the garage door.

Only 18 here, can't drink, not my thing anyway.
