Low and behold I found some more time to work on the engine.

Heating the Cometic gaskets to get the Copper spray to set up. (cold in garage)

Cleaned up the ARP studs

Studs installed in block

Gasket on block

Heads on and torqued down

Btw, those are 1.7 ratio pedestal mount rockers.

I ordered the Cometic gaskets in a thickness with lifter preload in mind. The goal was to make up the difference for the block decking and head milling.

Turned out perfect. I'm getting about 3/4 turn to tq spec from zero lash. No shims needed.

I must have missed it, what heads are going on? Or is this a repair?

Do you have to pull the motor to install heads and cam?

I did my HCI install with the motor still in the car. While it would certainly be easier to do it out of the car, that's only true if the motor is already out or you have a good reason to pull it to begin with. If you're only doing the HCI install then leave it in the engine bay.

Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
