Well right now im shopping around for some use heads.Im not sure what heads to go with. When i do heads , how do i know what cam to go with.I was thinking about going with a comp cams. What determines the kind of cam i can run.Just throw me a little education on what to look for when i do heads and cams and what can of specs to look for. What heads cause problems when installing? What are pretty good lifters and rocker arms to go with?

Here are a few things that may help

All oem Ford iron heads will use ped rockers and, for the most part, can't use stud rockers.

TFS heads will use stud rockers. Don't think you can move over the rockers form an oem head to these heads.

If you find a set of TFS heads with valves and springs only, you'll need to buy hardned pr's, guide plates, and stud rr's. Be sure to think about the extra cost in a case like this.

gt40's & gt40p's ...................

People make so much fuss about GT40P's these days. If you find a deal on some regular GT40's, I'd not think twice about it and snag em up. The p's ain't all that much better IMHO.

As for matching the heads & cam ......................

Just do a little research in these 94-95 forums with a focus on dyno results and which ever heads you can find for a deal. You'll find many peeps have done a combo using those heads and different cams. All you gotta do is find the results you like and copy the combo.

Just scope out the sigs for easy data to see like mine :D
and
OH NO ... use the dreaded ... I won't say it ... S button ;)

pretty much what grady says.

just to add one thing, if i had to do it all over i would not have spent big bucks on my AFR's. i would have spent a few hundred on my cobra heads and been done with it.

i know alot of folks would disagree with that line on thinking, but take those gt40's and slap a turbo on it sit back and watch the block split.

it all depends on what you want out of your car. for me i would like to have a stock cam sleeper that makes 500rwhp. now i have a big lumpy cam and a whistling vortech that you can hear a block away.

I've been thinking along those lines for quite some time :)

Only thing is ... you gotta have your head together a bit better for the pa thing. The na thing is not quite so demanding IMHO.

Still for me, I like Ben's thinking :nice:

what is your budget for heads and cam?

You can use any head you want, just get the right cam and it will make the power ....290+

with any good aluminum head there is no reason you shouldnt make 300ish rwhp unless you are missing key mods and you choose a crap cam.

Can't believe no one has mentioned this, but click on the sticky thread at the top of this forum for flow sheets of many different heads for 5.0's as well as specs on many after market cams.

I forgot to say

Unless you are getting rr's, pr's, & guide plates too ......

You are gonna be spending more than $750 to be good to go on these heads

I really don't care for ped rockers but ............

They can save you some money considering you can use your oem rockers for a while if money is tight.

btw, your oem pr's are fine with ped rockers if their length is OK :)
