I changed it once and really don't want to do it again right now. My ac has been removed for awhile and it looks like it would work.

The a/c core is always present in the airstream as to dry the air passing through it. The heater core has a blend door to allow some heat to pass. If you could get the heater hoses to attach to the a/c core without popping off somehow, you'd basically have full heat or nothing when you turn it on
