Heater Core Woes

Well, my '95 Mustang GT is once again parked with yet another blown heater core, this is the fifth one to fail. :bang: I've had the cooling system flushed several times, installed a Fluidyne radiator, replaced a leaking water pump, yet I continue to have heater cores fail at a rate of about once every two years. Thankfully, Autozone is as good as their word on their lifetime warranteed parts. Just can't figure out what's causing the repeated failures. Does anybody out there in the ether have any hints or suggestions before I install core #6?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Guys I hurt for you. My old Fox had a heatercore go out and boy what a pain it was to change.

I bought an Autozone replacement then heard the Ford one was better so I bought the Ford one and compared the two. I went straight back to AutoZone and returned it. The Ford unit was better in all respects to what AutoZone had given me!

Good luck with it!

I would say go look at a ford one for comparison Wes is probably right. If its easy and quick to replace I don't have a problem getting the cheapo lifetime warrantied parts but something like a heater core I would never want to do again, let alone 6 times:eek: :bang: .

Get the Ford heater core.... I did 5 on a F150, 4 from Autozone and the last from Ford, never had another problem. You can return the broken one to autozone for a refund, I did and they refunded it because I had all the return reciepts showing the 4, plus I had a reciept from a shop and they refunded me that money.

Well ... just as said above

I've seen many say over the years you wanna use a Genuine Ford hc as they
are just so much better than what you find at local places

Considering how much of a hassle it is to swap em out

This sounds like one of those times you just don't wanna compromise :nono:

I know when mine lets go ... I'm gonna go to the Ford house ;)
