help 5.0 vert owners....

Long story short, i just picked up a 93 5.0 convertible project.

question number 1. how do you access the rear side windows? they appear to be off track - but the motors seem good. I pulled the speaker out and the water shield.....but that's about as far as i got.

Question number 2. Can someone send me a fuse panel layout? The cruise control is the only other mechanical thing on the car that doesn't work. Other than a fuse - what could it be? Is there a solenoid that can be replaced easily?

To get to the rear windows you have to remove the interior trim. Grab the front edge of the seat bottom and pull up and out. It should come right out. There is a bolt holding each lower corner of the seat back. You have to feel around up underneath the cushion. Once the seat is out, you'll see the screws retaining the interior trim.

to add to that, you may have to push back hard on the seat to get it to come up and out. I was punished when I did mine...or maybe I'm just a sally Either way, that whole panel will come out with only a couple screws. The ones where the window control is, one down by the floor, one up top and the one behind the seat. You may have to unbolt the seatbelt if you really want things out of the way or just pull it over the front seat.

also it is traditional with rear vert windows that they seem off track and maybe dont line up well when up.BUT!!!!! fox mustang restoration and latemodel restoration has a kit that cost around 6.00 that consists of 3 small white round spacers that actually go inside the window motor itself.when these 3 bushings ware out it will roll up and down but the window will appear out of track and willnot line up properly.sometimes causing a squeel when rolling up. it is a good idea to open the window motor while you have the panels out and check as if this is the problem you can fix it while you have it apart.this will also save you from buying a whole new window motor when you dont need it.alot of times it will get so bad that the window will quit rolling up but you can still here the motor working. at this point the bushings in the motor are in a million pieces.then you buy the kit and reinstall new bushings and walla good as new.this is why most parts stores require a core on new window motors they know that usually its the 6.00 bushings that need fixed and they sell you a 65.00 motor and you have to give them yours.

awesome, thanks for the help - one other thing......the panel that the window motor is riveted to........it will need to be unbolted and removed as well, right?

.....how 'bout this, let me back up and tell you the problem.....maybe you have fixed this same thing - the problem is that the window motors work, but the small windows don't move - it is like they are off track or something, but it is affecting both of the small rear windows.

where do you get these little white spacers? will NAPA have them...or is this a Dallas Mustang thing?

I'd add that both of my window motors would make noise but couldnt apply torque because the race that holds the white bushings mentioned above was cracked bad. So the motor's torque took the path of least resistance - rather than moving the window, it would spread the plastic race.

I'm still tryin to find the races so I can rebuild my plastic guts.

my passenger side window goes all the way down, yet my driver's side pokes up a little, it's quite annoying. have you physically tried moving the windows? i'd say pull it apart and see what ya find
