Help ASAP! Clutch Cable or something!

Okay, I put in new clutch this weekend, but not a new cable nor did I adjust it. Due to a lack of time, I just had enough time to put the tranny in and what have you. But When I got in the car and started the clutch felt really weird compared to the last one I had. Now I know your thinking duh new clutch. But what I mean is that when I pushed the clutch pedal in, it's stiff at first then easy to push down the rest of the way to the floor. When before it was really stiff all the way down (which I liked!) And also it would grab almost immediatly upon releasing the clutch out. Now it's almost completely out (released) when it finally engages. Now my step dad said it felt okay to him but I thought different. Is that normal?
And then Today I was heading home, and the two lane highway I was on merges into a one lane road. Like most people I merge over when your supposed to, not speed up to the last second then try merging cutting people off. But this dumb broad like five cars back guns it tries speeding up and passing all of us. Like most of you folks would, I down shifted and punched it. That's when something happened:bang: I heard a pop or or snap, but hell I paid no attention (I'd be damned that a SUV was going to pass me so I kept haulling a s s ...) But when I go to shift back up, the damn clutch pedal went straight to the floor with no resistance. Now from there on out I had to shift all the way home with out using a clutch. Can anybody please help and tell me what I may have broken... I'm leaning towards the cable breaking at the end (Tranny side) because from looking under the dash the cable looks fine. I am at a lost here. I'm starting hate mustangs.

i bet the clutch cable was so far out of adjustment that it finally snapped when you pushed it hard. just replace it with an OEM ford cable. i tried a UPR and STEEDA adjustable cables and both were crap. ford cable worked the best

thanks for the heads up. i am going to try and get a new cable today i hope that they have them in stock . how much do they run for? is it hard to adjust the cable? and how do i know when its the correct adjustment ? sorry about all the questions and righting that essay earlier. lol.

I can vouch for adj cables not worth it.

I have had an adj cable stretch on me while at the track in 2006. Did my burnout and the car stalled right after. I thought that was odd. It felt funny when I launched. 1st-3rd gears were ok, but then the pedal is bouncing off the floor board and I couldn't get it into 4th. So I coasted to a much lower speed and limped it into the pits where a buddy and i made a temp fix on it. I ended up stretching the adj cable. I got an Stock one for 45-50 bucks through our dealership. Threw it on the car and no problems since
