Hello, i wanted to know if someone could tell about, what carb is good for my use. I saw that Holley is very good for carbs, I wanted to use a 650CFM 4 Barrel. Is it too big? Should i rather use a 600 or lower i really want to have some power around 400 hp.

Hello, i have some questions to someone who really has knowledge about engines. I want to cam my 66 289 Coupe, i have found this comp cam:
https://www.compcams.com/mutha-thumpr-235-249-hydraulic-roller-cam-for-ford-221-302.html
i wanted to use but i am not really sure if the other components i have chosen are compatible i thought i could use the Edelbrock RPM Performer Kit: https://www.edelbrock.com/performer-rpm-top-end-kit-for-s-b-ford-2091.html
and just use the comp cam is it possible? As a Carb i would use a Double Pump 650CFM Holley.

I would be really happy if anyone could help me out!

Of course not if I only do the carb I just meant it in general. Of course I will do more to get this amount of hp.

Get the carb that works with what you have Now.
After you get your together( new 400hp combo) then you can go bigger on the carb.

It appears that what you need is a complete combo to hit your desired 400 HP mark.

I've moved your latest question in with this question and dress up your thread title a bit to reflect what you're after.

I did a little digging of my own...

In my head, I know of may 2 or 3 289 builds [ever] that were close to 400 FWHP.

They had huge heads, solid lifters, revved over 7000 RPM (to hit 400), and were [never] considered for the street (no street manners at all and didn't run on pump gas).

Your best bet for cost, simplicity, and streetability, is going to be to stroke it well beyond 289 ci, go full hydraulic roller, and add boost.

If your engine is coded to your car in some way... Pull it, pickle it, preserve it, and drop in a roller 302 block stroked out to 331 or 347 ci.

On the other hand: If anybody out there has a streetable 400 HP, 289 build that I don't know about, I would surely like to see it. I mean... That's a badass little engine at 1.4 HP per cubic inch, naturally aspirated.
