So i have all the torque bit screws out and i can move it a few inches up and out. But It hangs up and i'm not sure if the a/c ducting comes out with it. And does anyone know how to pop the air vent/cover out. I notice some tabs on the top and bottom but i wasn't sure and didn't want to start prying at it. Are there any suggestions while I have the dash out? I plan on changing the heater core, and i'm running the main engine harness back behind the dash.

Thanks

Edit: Sorry i forgot to mention this is on the 93 4cyl

not that it matters compared to my 92.

So i found a heater core write up and i was taking the plastic piece of the dash off the metal bracket. I finally took the last few bolts holding it on and it broke loose. But i want to take the whole dash out of the vehicle. So i'm wondering if you have to pull the steering column in order to do that. The steering shaft goes through the metal bracket, so i assume you do or atleast pull the steering wheel.

thanks

No you dont have to pull off the steering wheel or column. I removed mine completely long ago. I think there is just a bracket they you remove to get it off the column. It was a bit tricky and you have to play with the dash a bit to find the right angle to pull it out. Also when you remove it there is a vacum line that attaches behind the dash. Make sure yo reattach it when you reinstall. I think you may have to tilt the steering wheel down to its lowest setting too.

i took mine off and around my column. i do not have a tilt wheel either.

the vacuum line he is referencing is yellow. do not forget this. i had one hell of a time connecting it once with the dash on.

There is no reason to drop the steering column to pull the dash, the dash can be pulled with the steering column left in place. I've done it 3 times is the reason I know.

Dunno if you got the vents out, but the moveable "vent" piece pops out, then the tabs inside will need to be pryed up while gently pulling on the duct to release it. (Be careful, years of hot/ cold fluctuation makes thes tabs pretty brittle.) I've had a few dashes out and always drop the column I think it makes removal easier and it's not hard to do...
