Help me with a bolt shopping list

Take one of each to the local auto parts store....regular grade 8 works just fine. No need for arp or other fancy stuff....unless you want it.

I would head to a salvage yard and head for any Explorer or a 5.0 in the motor pile and have at it....

I ran the 93 Cobra with a 1/2" spacer and made my own....Most hardware stores sell threaded Ready-Rod in 3' lenghts and you can just cut em to lenght...

The studs for the lower need be like 2" Allen studs, any hardware store will have them..grab a few bolts and hit the stores...

jus take the bolts and go to a reputable hardware store that has a good selection of bolts. Use grade 8 bolts or equivelent. I had to do this several times. I actually stripped out a front intake bolt. the one by the water neck. And i messed it up when i tried to drill it and retap it. So i jus found a longer bolt and it all the way through the head and attatched a nut at the end. works better than anything iv ever rigged.

When talking lower intake bolts .............

Some go through water jackets ... so ... You wanna get STRONG bolts :Word:

They can get all gunked-up at times
and
You don't wanna have a cheap bolt snap on you if they do

Clean out the threads good with a thread chaser or tap
and
Use anti-seize on the threads to help prevent the corrosion

btw ... ANYTIME you put a steel bolt in an Aluminum bolt hole ...
Use Anti-seize

A simple way to check length of bolt needed is to stick a small
screw driver or nail down the hole and mark it. Simply measure
the distance between the end and the mark. Don't forget to
allow for bottoming out the bolt

Use some all thread or a longer bolt with the head cut off on each
corner to guide the lower down nice and straight when you do
the reinstall.

You will have to run the bolts 3 to 5 times to obtain even torque
readings. Don't forgot to run all bolts one final time after two
heat cycles as they will most certainly be a bit loose.
