I'm looking to upgrade my 1990 LX 5.0 alternator to a 130 AMP. Can I use my Ford Motorsport Underdrive pullies with the 130AMP Alternator? What will it do if I put back on my stock Alternator pulley?

The pulley off the stock alt won't fit the 3G alt. Running the stockalt pulley with the other 2 UD pullies won't have any effect. Or atleast any you will notice..

dont run the alt UD. the alt draws so little power. youll be much happier with the extra electricity then the 1hp you may get from the UD on the alt.

It will if you use a washer as a Spacer. I used a off-the-shelf washer from Home Depot as a spacer to run the stock 2G alt pulley on my 3G at.

I've since upgraded to an ASP 1 7/8" pulley. I run March Underdrives with the ASP pulley and have a full charge at idle even with an SN95 electric fan and a decent stereo

Did you need the washer as a spacer with the ASP OD alternator pulley also?
What year is your 3g alt?
ASP told me awhile back that their 1-7/8" OD alt pulley would fit 3g`s up to 1995 because Ford used the same offset spacing as the 2g to that point.Beyond 1995,they weren`t sure, but said it should fit following years.

I just left the pulley that came on my pa-performance 130 amp with my other UD pullies and it charges just fine. I am not sure if you would notice too much of a difference either way.

Thanks. Did you try the new alt with all 3 pullies? PA said you should be able to use all 3 underdrive pullies.

I just left the one that came with the Alt. just to be sure that I didn't have any charging issues(whole reason i switched). I guess I can change it now but I like where my voltage is so it works better for me.

No, i am not using a washer with the ASP pulley.

My Alt is a parts store alt specified for a '95 GT. It fits fine with plenty of room

The stock pulley on the all 3 of the 3g alts that I have done are the exact same size as what was in the underdrive kit.
I used the pulley from my underdrive kit (polished) on one of them with no spacer and it fit just fine.
